Don't you step on my green suede shoes

Green yarn for a green sweater in green bowls (inside) next to a new green shoe.
I caved and bought them this morning. They're suede. And won't protect my feet from rain. And I can't wear socks with them, so my feet will be cold as well as wet. They were the perfect choice for Paris, no? Although it's been really sunny for the last few days, so maybe they were a good choice after all.

I love those shoes! Impractical, but who cares? And green is such a great color, people seem to avoid it because it's green, but it can work as a "neutral". Lovely purchase, good for you.

this photo is so lovely, i can't stop looking at it--such a creamy, yummy combination of greens. and those shoes are impossibly cute. it looks like they have traction-friendly bumpy soles; that means points in the practicality column!

That photo, sweet greens, it's just about the prettiest thing I've seen all year. And those shoes are incredibly lovely.

They're shoes! You can never have too many, and suede is such a yummy choice. Beautiful shoes.

You'll wear them in the "I'm beautiful and I don't even try" way. Stunning color and style, and the logical female choice when searching for something to keep your feet warm. Surely you have some slippers around there with all the knitting you do! If you change your mind they'll go perfectly with the Clopotis scarf of my dreams. :)

No, those shoes are perfect for Paris because they're flat -- you can walk in them everywhere. And they're adorable!

Can we do some sort of shoe exchange? I have a very lovely pink pair, AND I have a gorgeous red pair. I'll send either pair and then you send me your lovely green shoes. Whatdoyathink? (OK, I tried!)

The most adorable shoes I've ever seen. I love your blog and have been lurking for awhile, and am now feeling absolutely compelled to say hello...I want to fly to Paris and pick up a pair of those! I wonder if they could be delivered to Chicago?

Between those shoes and La Droguerie, I seriously need to figure out some way to get to France! Maire Claire Idees tempts me every month with supplies that cannot be found this side of the Atlantic.

I have pink suede shoes. They make me happy, but they give me blisters. So I must wear the little baby socks. How I love my pink shoes! I also love your green ones. Hooray for the sales!

ok, definitely not practical for paris in the winter but oh so lovely. you made a great choice. a girl can't always be practical, life would be sooooo boring!

I resisted teh sales (mostly because I am not sadistic and until I know more I really need to eat not knit). But have thoughts of going to see what is at the Bon Marche, maybe one ball of calmer for the Knitty Surprise cabled hat if it isnt too spendy.
the shoes however are perfect parisian, if they had stilletto heels I would KNOW you were a local :)

It's hard to resist the sales. I went out myself this morning!

those shoes are wonderful! AND they are green (my favorite color)!

Just came upon your blog, loving the shoes!! I live in California and am blessed with amazing shoe weather. Spring will be here before you know it and you'll be wearing the soles off'em.

Cold, wet feet bedamned. I LOVE those shoes!

I found your page through your lovely Knitty pattern (Clapotis - I'm about to start, in Silk Garden), and must say that those shoes are covet-worthy. I would have gone back for them, too. :)

the shoes are so cute! Wear them inside at parties or wait until Spring - isn't always cold and rainy Paris, right?
Posted by: Lu at January 13, 2005 07:46 PM
oooh! I just boght cute green suede flats too. And they are just as cute and just as impractical! Enjoy!

I want suede green shoes, and a Kate Gilber green sweater to match. Very stylish, and pretty.
Posted by: Rana at January 13, 2005 06:28 PM
AWESOME shoes. Good job shopping!

Those are utterly gorgeous--Phooey on cold rainy days--those shoes must be worn. And green is the best color. Hurrah for your pretty girly shoes and your lovely taste!
Posted by: Leslie at January 13, 2005 05:53 PM
Those are the CUTEST! Oh I love them and I see why they had to come home with you :) Good work...who cares if your feet will be cold, you'll look so cute!
Posted by: Rebecca at January 13, 2005 05:29 PM
Oops. I bungled your two posts into one screwy comment. Still love the shoes.
Posted by: valentina at January 13, 2005 05:21 PM
Those shoes look absolutely yummy! They are worth it. Who cares about protection or warmth when they are just so darn adorable!!!
Posted by: shannon at January 13, 2005 05:13 PM
Kate---please don't try and talk sense when it comes to shoes. If we can't have pretty feet than what good is it? Those seem the perfect shoes for Paris---sensible, schmensible---they're adorable!!!
Posted by: aubree at January 13, 2005 03:58 PM
OMG! Those are adorable! Seeing them next to the yarn reminds me of when I bought RED high-heeled Mary Jane-type shoes. I briefly considered constructing an altar for them. I can send you my "shoe gods" altar schematics if you would like them!
Posted by: Stephanie VW at January 13, 2005 03:47 PM
Those shoes remind me of Spring! Perfect for tip-toeing throught the daffodils! lol
(I need the snow to go away, so I don't make silly comments like this! lol)
Posted by: Margie at January 13, 2005 03:33 PM
Oh, I'm swooning. They are lovely.
Posted by: Marnie at January 13, 2005 03:05 PM
I think I get your remark from yesterday now - they are highly impractical, but sooo pretty! ;-)
Posted by: Mona at January 13, 2005 03:02 PM
In Canada, you have big ugly boots for practicality outside and shoes inside for beauty. These are beauties :-)
If you're hyper-brave and don't mind falling down a lot, you buy beautiful boots too.
Now I really have to go shopping...I don't think I've ever had a pair of green shoes. Purple, yes, red, yes, but never green. Hmmm...
Posted by: Lee Ann at January 13, 2005 02:25 PM
Those shoes are the cutest! I think it is just not possible to find shoes that are always practical. These look great even if they aren't good for rain. If you can't wear socks, wear legwarmers!
