Just like decoration cake on a stick!
I was reading Molly's blog a while back (actually she has 2! one for knitting and one for life in Japan, both of which I love) and she was talking about Pocky. I said, "What's Pocky?" She was surprised at my ignorance and said she would send me a sampling of the best kinds. She did and now I "enjoy seasonal winter Pocky made of only the finest chocolate." I've also tried "Decorer Pocky Fraise au Chocolat." I haven't tried the Chocolate or Men's Pocky yet. I'm dying to find out what could possibly make something "Men's" (please read my mind and insert one of several crude jokes that I don't have the nerve to post) but I'm going to save them. Have you figured out that I am part squirrel yet? I save yarn. I save Pocky. I hoard my Cheerios until I know I'm getting more and then I binge. I save dishes and laundry... ok, no I don't. I just don't take care of them.

I blocked Laura and Anouk. They're nearly dry. The sleeves already are and I've already sewn one up. I'm actually wishing that I hadn't been so darn diligent about weaving in my ends. Then I would have been able to fix up a couple of the stitches at the seam that look just a little wonky.

I love the white chocolate Pocky! We can get it all over the place where I live (even our grocery store carries several flavours). So if you ever run out of Pocky...
And thank you for the wonderful Clapotis pattern - in December I knit a skinny one with fringe and gifted a friend. She won't take it off!

My latest Pocky fave is Pocky G, which sounds delightfully thuggish, but is just dark chocolate on a chocolate cookie stick and for some reason is extra hard.
Anyone tried Pretz, Pocky's cracker like cousin?

I was in a shop near work, in little Tokyo, and they had tons of Pocky. If you are ever low and craving, let me know. I can pick you up a bunch. There was a bunch in other flavors as well. Some of it looked highly suspect, if you ask me, but I'm also not a big fan of unnatural fruit flavorings. :)

Kate, just for writing teh lovely Clapotis pattern, I will gladly sent you Cherrios or even more Pocky. I will also send you yarn if you like. See if you receive the yarn in the mail, it doesn't count.

Wait, these look like the same things they sell here... are they like thin pretzels dipped in chocolate (LU -- Mikado cookies)? Funny thing is a friend from Japan is the one who told me about them. They are delicious.

Kate, if you need me to send you Cheerios, please let me know. No need to horde them. ;-)

They sell some of the varieties at Wegman's, they are yummy!

Ooooh. Pocky is good. Enjoy!

Pocky's are yummy! I haven't tried the super fancy ones with nuts. But I love the chocolate. BTW, I love your patterns but I have not toddlers to knit for! I want to knit Anouk but I have to figure out a recipient first!

Love Poky. Our store carries different flavours all the time. Love the Engrish on the packaging. Don't build up the suspense on the Men's Poky - you'll be disappointed.

Glad you are enjoying it! I am more of an eat-it-all-at-once kind of gal, but if squirreling is your game, go for it. Men's Pocky is the best kind. I think it's just dark chocolate--maybe that's a man's kind of thing? Who knows. It's my favorite!!

Pocky is the best. Hilarity in every bite!

Love Poky! Our store gets new flavors all the time. I love the Engrish on the packaging. It's hilarious. Don't hold out on the Men's Poky. You'll be disapointed if you build up the suspense too much.

Molly was my Secret Pal and she sent me tons of Pocky which I've been hoarding, too. I ate one kind (strawberry) but I'm afraid to run out of the other kind!
I guess there's a squirrel in all of us!

I LOVE Pocky sticks!! When I lived in Japan I practically lived on those -- they're very addictive. I've not tried MEN's Pocky sticks yet, though. Are they savoury? extra spicy? Do they contain hormone supplements? Suddenly I need to know.

I feel the same way about Cheerios, the very same way. When I worked in Central America, I would ask my mother to send me two things: SPF75 sunscreen and Cheerios.

I live near many Asian markets so I'll have to go on a "hunt". You've convinced me to give them a try - if I hear/see anything re: "Men's Pocky" I'll report back to you. thanks for the Anouk update too.

please keep us posted on the "Men's Pocky". enquiring minds want to know...
Posted by: shobhana at January 22, 2005 02:35 PM
That does it. I'm goin' on a Pocky Men's Hunt. Because even if you don't have the nerve, I DO. (I don't have a blog yet. This in itself could be making me a wee bit cocky...)
Really, though. Don't be such a squirrel that you don't tell us what the difference is. What is it that maks a Pocky Men's a Pocky MEN'S ???
I, for one, want to know. :-)

Pocky is the BOMB! The strawberry Pocky is good too! You can purchase it at Wegman's in Rochester.
