Photos and phrases

I made Christmas cookies with Sarah yesterday. Here's her 3-eyed gingerbread man. I just ate him.

I saw Julia and her petit prince today.

I worked on a sock while I was there. Since then, I've decided that it's too small and I'm going to have to rip it. unless my feet shrink just a little

I bought this out of Julia's stash to make socks for Tonton Guy.

I'm working on these and thinking about the dandy sweater and another sweater and the kilt hose of course. By the way, two of my Scottish guy friends insist that they are "socks" not "hose" because (I'm quoting here), "I cannot imagine any self-respecting Scotsman would wear something called hose!"
I'm not sleeping and neither is Katie (who I went to high school with) so we've made an agreement to "pay attention to our sleep hygeine, meaning we will go to bed at the same time every night and get up at the same time every day and not take naps. We agreed to start today. I forgot that the only TV show that Fred and I really like and regularly watch is on tonight. And it starts at 2 am... Maybe I'll start paying attention to my sleep hygeine at 3. That's 9pm at Katie's house. That's early to go to bed.

Looking forward to the Lise booties too!

The cookie reminds me of the well-loved teddy bear (or stuffed animal) that has been carried around everywhere and lovingly protected by the child.

The gingerbread cookie looks delicious. I would have eaten him up right after the picture too!

I love the gingerbread cookie! Reminds me of baking them with my son (who is now 8 years old). He insisted they all needed raisin "peepees" -- imagine the hilarity that went on over that!!!!

Love your blog -- bland or not -- LOL!

Yummy-looking gingerbread man.
Almost as yummy as those colorful socks.
Too bad you have to rip them.

PS: I've also had insomnia AND weird dreams lately.

Not that you were asking for more sleep advice, but... two things that help me are to exercise -- but at least a few hours before going to bed, unless it's just some yoga or stretches. And if you have to, get up and go to the couch, write down whatever's obsessing you, then go back to bed.

I've actually experimented with knitting while lying on my side in bed, but it's very awkward, and I figured it was a good way to bring on a tendinitis flare-up. It wasn't a very successful experiment...

That is a yummy, sherbet-colored sock. It looks very soft.

I don't sleep from January to about June, but since I seem to have energy it doesn't bother me too much. I blame it on the increasing daylight... Those socks are kooshy!

Ooh! The braid edging at the top of Too Small Sock is very pretty, and the colors -- ooh la la. Re: Lise, "Tell me you want it so I get my butt moving!" I do, so please do!

You silly girl. Go to bed! (Says the woman up at 2:45 am reading your blog!) Another good sleep hygiene tip - use your bed only for sleeping and sex - don't read or knit or anything in bed. Also, if you lay down for more than 10 minutes and don't fall asleep, get up. Try again later. This is what I learned in school. ;-)

Don't be afraid of the sock ghost. I will send garlic and a cross - oh wait, that's for kilt sock vampires. Hmmm.

Yay! Can't wait for those Lise booties! They are just the most adorable thing and I have several friends who would be thrilled to receive a pair.
