Our blogs, our selves

My blog was sick. Now I am. You may have noticed that for the last week nearly two weeks there was no posting, no commenting, sporatic email. That had to happen when there was a ridiculous photo of me posted, didn't it! I'm catching up on the email I owe, so please be patient if you haven't heard from me. Things are more or less back in working order now

Here's the last two weeks in a nutshell:
Tuesday - Sarah gave me Sweethearts (which I ate right away so you'll have to go to her site if you really want to see a photo of them).

Wednesday - I won a contest! I never win contests! Looby Lou asked people to identify a poem and I did! I asked for haggis, but she suggested old-fashioned Scottish sweets instead.

I met Kim (who you may have seen in the comments) and Trish (who I found out reads, but doesn't comment as far as I can remember) and their husbands (and mine) for a really great dinner with good wine which I drank enough of to babble incessantly. Kim brought me all this:

the world's biggest box of Cheerios so I can eat breakfast, gigantic plastic bags to continue my new yarn organization obsession, muffin papers so I can teach the French that muffins don't have to be chocolate and they are not the same thing as cupcakes, and candy corn because they aren't all melted together.

And my yarn

Don't you love the beautiful, clean packages of yarn? I think I should do this with all of my yarn, or would that just be scary? And sorry for the crap photo. It was dark out.

Thursday - I had a lovely tea and delicious scones with Auntie M, who was delightful company.

Friday - I got Knitting on the Edge in the mail (you know what it is so I won't bother to link) and read it in the laundromat with Sarah.

Frog and I took the Eurostar to London to hang out with my cousin. I took 2 knitting projects with me but only knit for about 3 minutes of the trip before falling asleep.

Saturday - We discovered a great love of crumplets. I didn't knit but I bought a ball of Rowan wool cotton that I really needed to finish Laura. I heard someone say "Gov-ner" for real - not in a film and not joking.

Sunday - I bought crumpets and cranberry juice to bring back. Still no knitting.

Monday - Ate crumpets. I worked on a couple patterns and felt like I got amazingly little done even though it took me all day

Tuesday - Work, work, work.

Wednesday - Worked my butt off again and got a lot done, including some seams on the Laura sweater. I just need to attach the second sleeve. Went to bed with chills and aches and a fever.

Thursday - Called in sick. I never call in sick. I wanted to take advantage of this unexpected day off to get some stuff done, but in order to do so, I would have had to go to the other side of town to buy a ball of yarn that I needed. Walking across the street to the pharmacy was difficult enough. I had to miss knitting with Kim and Trish. whatabummer.

Friday - I was so sick I couldn't do anything besides sleep and whine.

Saturday - According to my host, my blog should be cured. And I feel a bit better thanks to anti-biotics. I might even be able to knit today and Frog said he'll go get my ball of yarn so I don't have to move.

Cheers and speedy recoveries to you! I finished my clapotis this week, and I love it muchly! I wore it to a wedding and got many many compliments on it. It is the most satisfying and fun pattern i've done so far, and I think I might start another today....Bravo!

Announcement:

I have started Clapotis in Colinette Tagliatelli.

I was worried about you - you were gone a long, long time. I'm sorry you're sick. My little boy has a cold and is going through tissues like mad. We're making Howard Hughes jokes.

Do you need anything from Seattle?

icky sickness... I think it must be the season. not to mention that the constant cloud cover doesn't help the motivation either... some days I think I could just go into hibernation.

(and hell, I haven't posted in so long either, I need to get on it this weekend!)

glad you are feeling better!! was starting to get worried - missed reading your blog.
after you teach the french about muffins - I'm gonna move there and get them all addicted to BROWNIES and then I'm gonna teach 'em how to make toll house cookies!!!
Next time I come to Paris I guess i'll have to bring lots of cheerios - i like the honeynut ones myself but you seem like a classic cheerio girl.

Yarrrrrrrrrnnnnnn...yum. Lucky you.
What a relief to see the blog works again! And muffins are definitely not cupcakes. Actually, I've never used papers for muffins...but I have for cupcakes. With muffins I just dump the batter right into the muffin tin. And then later, I make my husband wash the pan ;-)
