Santa came this weekend

He was kind of late, but I finally got two of my Christmas presents from my belle-soeur.
<
And now because of the twisted sisters book I'm having fantasies of using dyes, owning a spinning wheel and making socks for everone I know.

Also, I got a package from High Energy Jenny!

I thought the whole point of her winning my contest was that I would send her something... (her prize is sitting on my couch) but hey, I'm not going to complain! Especially since I had never seen Lamb's Pride yarn before (gasp!) and it's in such a lovely color... now what to make...

This is the other big present of the weekend and it's thanks to me:

Do you know what this is? It's the light at the end of the tunnel. I finished a big project. Almost.

This weekend, I also patted a horse's nose, played with a dirty dog, saw a bee rubbing the inside of a crocus, walked in the mud, baked a cheesecake and babbled to Frog about plans for sweaters.

I have two questions for you. 1) le drapeu francais: Am I presuming correctly that you are French or French Canadian. My name, Kankakee, is merely a user name; but it is also the name of a town whose region used to be called, Le Petite Canada. It is where my family's ancestors settled. 2) Now onto a knitting question. On another site (www.about.com/knitting) there is a free pattern for a stripped long stocking cap. However, there is no indication of how much yarn to buy. Would you, or anyone else, know approximately how much yarn to buy for an adult's long stocking cap. It's my guess that you and the more experienced knitters could answer this question. It is my goal to use that cap as good practice to hone my skills while learning continental knitting. Looking forward to hearing what anyone has to say. Thanks. Merci.

So glad you got the yarn! Yay for the post! I hope you enjoy it! '-)

Can't wait to see what you've been slaving over these last couple of weeks! I'm sure it will be beautiful and unique, just as the rest of your work is!

Bon tricot et félicitations pour ce soon-to-be FO;

Any cheesecake recipes to share? Yum.

I finished my scarf-sized Clapotis! It came out nicely, even in cotton. It probably "bunches up" more than the silk-wool would, but I can live with that. Thanks again for the pattern. My daughter is now big enough to wear the too-big Anouk, too. :)

I love Knitting in the Old Way. It is one of my favorite knitting books. It was a great way to learn new skills about knitting and to find out that you can knit a sweater for yourself without having to look like a super model.

Sounds like you had a nice weekend, but we missed you Friday at the blogmeet.

When I got the Twisted sisters' mean book I was captivated, too. I have never dyed yarn, never tried spinning but of course kept phantasizing about what gorgeous yarns and socks I would produce...well, let's just say: so many things to do and so little time!

Why can't I modify my comment and correct my french....grrrr

Sounds like you had a nice naturey weekend ( I love making up new words..) as well as productive...

I can't believe I am leaving a post on your blog but it is 2:00 am and I am awake still...don't know why...Teebs is in bed behind me and I am here trying to finish up this damn sleeve so I can actually post something about knitting on my blog. I figured you must be back home by now et voila, tu est la!

Perhaps your new sock book will inspire me to actually knit a pair of socks and find out what everyone is always raving about...but not until I finish my other 3 zillion projects...

Sound's like it's getting to be spring where you are. We're still under several feet of snow here in Northern Michigan.

Congrats on all you accomplished this weekend!

Would you like two more skeins of that lovely Superwash? I have 2 in the color Plum Crazy. It's a pretty pale purple shot through with little bits of raspberry. I've swatched and ripped with one of them, but essentially there's still 200yds in each one. Could you add this to your lovely Blueberry and make something fun? I'd be delighted to ship it off to you if you'd like it and if you'd email me your addy. (Seems like every time I offer to send yarn to someone, it turns out that they live in France. Perhaps there's some Parisness in my future?)

Blessings,
Snooze
