When mom is here

She brings me lots of stuff

It's mostly food this time but there were two issues of Interweave, some Bryspuns and some Kool-aid for my first ever attempt at dyeing.

She takes me to my favorite restaurants.

She doesn't care if we go out or if we just lay around and watch bad movies dubbed in French.

She buys me clothes that I would be too cheap (I can be really cheap sometimes) to buy otherwise.

She goes to the laundromat with me.

and I usually end the week with the same amount in my wallet as when she arrived.

I wish my dad could be here too, but it's nice to have mom around. We're off for a weekend at the in-laws' where Frog and I will play translators for three days and come back tired and wishing we spoke a third language just to avoid French and English. Hope you all are great.

We really enjoyed your web site and have it book marked, Kate here is a closet knitter , we used to give her grief about being a knitter, but now think it is cool.
Ok we will keep watching for new pictures and stuff.

And Happy Mother's day to you this year!

bonjour kate!
congratulations! a baby to knit for...what a joy.
well i have been watching your blog for almost a year. i wasn't sure about these blogs...dipping into someone's life that i didn't even know. but i keep coming back to yours. and now you are havin a baby !!!
i used to live in france...7 years in chantilly... when my first husband was alive. after 12 years i'm now remarried...i'm so blessed. but i started knitting or picked it up again after many failures...not really failures just that i knit so slowly that my kids out grew what i was knitting before it was finished. ...but i find i have more time and patience now than when i was younger.  enough about me except that i find it encouraging to read your missives. i can picture you knitting on the metro like all the other french women or bicycling around the rues de paris in your clapotis that i want to call clafouti (both comforting and elegant) and i admire what a talented young woman you are! to be young and knitting and live in paris....ahhh! its precious. not that i would be young again...but i do think when the dollar gets a wee bit stronger we will come to paris and rent an apartment for a few months....maybe next year? until then it will be fun to hear your tales and imagine and remember.
thanks for all your ideas and well written patterns...
a bientot

Creamy or chunky??
Mom visits are the best aren't they?
Mine is here visiting too and we're having a blast being "ladies that lunch" and walking and talking and just being silly.

Yes, mums are the greatest! That's a lot of goodies, did she have any space in her luggage for clothes? :)

My mum doesn't visit -- I visit my parents. But it's the same: a bit of shopping, hanging out, having fun, etc. If she can, she sends me home with groceries. Mums are great!

Is that homemade Chex mix?

Your mom is a goddess. Give her a great big hug from me (because I'm American. I can do that. ;-)))

Go MOM! Looks like she must have packed an extra suitcase for your goodies. Tell her I say hello :)

It must feel good to have your mom around for awhile and be taken care of. Oh, and mazel tov!

I see Jif Peanut butter! I love that stuff. It's tough not having local items from across the country I can't believe the amout of stuff you miss living across the ocean. When people visit me they tend to bring Red Vines (red licorice, completely different from twizlers), Nalley's Chilli, and Alaskan Amber for my husband, 3 great things we can't get on the east coast.
