fun?

I decided that I really needed something to knit for fun so I finally started the socks I had promised to Tonton Guy to celebrate his retirement and 60th birthday. I sat and knit like a maniac at a family function on Sunday (the pétanque game was too competitive for my taste) and got pretty far. But Tonton Guy has really big feet. Even though the yarn is thicker than your average sock yarn, I think they're still going to take me a while and after a few hours of knitting them I was getting a little bored. I might need a second "fun" project to take a break from my first one. I'm not sure what it should be. I've got an itch to knit some lace so I might tackle one of the Heirloom Knitting patterns I have. Or I might not.

Hi, I'm knitting my first Clapotis, and I just wanted to say what a clever pattern it is and it turns into the prettiest stole too! Thank you so much for sharing this pattern with us.

Oh, a sock for a large man's foot can seem endless! I am halfway through a pair for my (size 13 foot) sweetie. I did them toe-up as well, and the ribbing seemed truly endless. Your sock looks great, though- I love the almost-checked look of the colorway!

Kate, the sock looks very cool, even if the experience has paled a bit. Hang in there! Nice yarn choice.

I love the yarn too - I've been on a sock kick lately. Who makes it? It's looks great knitted up!

Nice sock! And I notice you are a circulars, and not DPN's, type of girl - hmmm...maybe I will be convinced to try that one day. But probably not. Isn't sock knitting so satisfying?

I like your sock. Atleast you didn't go crazy and knit it on zeros or ones. I do that sometimes for my husband and they take forever.

Holy boatride, Batman, that is one big sock! Gooooood luck... :-)

Ooh, thanks for mentioning that Heirloom Knitting site. Good link to have. I'm on a bit of a lace kick at the moment, too. I'm desperate to finish my current non-lace project so I can justify starting the lace one I've just gotten an idea for.
