mwah hah hah hah!

Look at me! The mad blogger! Posting more than twice in a week for the first time in ages. Ha ha ha! You can't stop me! ...but I guess you can close the window and delete me from your bloglines account if you really want to.

This post is here just to give you some random bits of junk:

1. There were organ grinders walking down my streeet yesterday. They were playing a song that sounded suspiciously like Abba's Fernando, but it wasn't.

2. I bit my cheek really hard.

3. I forgot to tell you about one of the knitting highlights. I woke up at 4:30 am on Tuesday and couldn't sleep. I could only think about knitting so I got up and tried to design a blanket until 7:30 am when I was sufficiently tired and frustrated to go back to sleep for a half hour before going to work. I have a feeling I will be doing this more and more often, as I keep waking up early in the morning.

4. I got to meet the very charming Marie today.

5. When we were in contact before she came over, I lamented the lack of sock yarn in France, so she brought me a mini-store of yarn to choose from and I bought this off of her:

Isn't it loooooooooovely? It's my first Koigu ever. I'm peeing myself with excitement just looking at it. I think it's possibly unhealthy to be this excited about yarn. I'm fighting every urge in my body to get down my swift and ball winder and start some socks for me me me right now now now because I have things I have to finish soon soon soon. grrr.

Hi,
So you're koigu-virgin off.
The lovely Mrs. Pilkington send my first koigu ever, and I couldn't stop looking at it for about 10 days. It was lying in the livingroom, so I saw it at least 50 times a day...
I made some booties from it, and still have yarn left.
Have fun today, keep it easy (I try too, my second baby will be born in august..).
Bye from the netherlands,
Ajoursteek

Ooh, yummy, delicious Koigu. That stuff is my crack. The colors you chose are just stunning- they go so nicely on your flowers!

I am telling you: don't bother with the ball winder. That Koigu is too good for it. Do it by hand! (I am a big fan of the Koigu and have been known to ball it two or three times before I start). Call me crazy.

I've just knitted my first sock with the lovely Koigu. It is truly wonderful. It took a whole skein to do one sock, though, so you'll have to stripe or something, to get two socks out of those two skeins. (Mine was a lace sock, too.) Enjoy it!

mmmmm, koigu! i've never seen it in person but damn that is a lovely pic.

hope the cheek is healing ...

Koigu is one of the world's great wonders.

I love Koigu, too! That's a beautiful colorway.

Hormones and stuff really can disrupt your sleep. I think there is lizard-brain nesting things going on, too. My second used to get hiccups a lot whilst still inside me - it was adorable.

You need to put a pregnancy progress bar in your sidebar. That way we can have a pregnancy-along kinda. We could at least share trimester-appropriate stories. :P

ooooo...very pretty. One skein of Koigu also makes a nice hat and bootie set :)

i love me my koigu!!! enjoy. if your habit needs feeding, i'll be happy to send you some more.

I have never played with Koigu either, but I hope you enjoy it!

And by the way, bloglines doesn't update for me at all. I always have to click your link instead of being notified when you post. Does that happen for anyone else?

I love Koigu too! I bought my first skeins about a month ago and STILL haven't used them. I'm just waiting for a paycheck so I can get some small needles and then I'll be attempting my first socks ever!

Posted by: Lily at June 17, 2005 07:07 PM

Oh, what pretty yarn. I'm putting off buying my first Koigu, because once I start I don't think I'll be able to stop.

Good luck with sleeping! As a warning, when I was pregnant the first time, during the last trimester I was a total insomniac and would get up at all hours of the night and go through knitting pattern books. They are still lined with post-its marking hundreds of patterns I will never make!
