Oh the humanity!
Marie's interview of me is up at Knitcast and while I encourage you to subscribe to Knitcast and listen to episodes 1 though 9, and every episode that comes after number 10, as well as vote for Knitcast at Podcast Alley and become Marie's best friend because she is one cool chick, whatever you do, don't listen to number 10. Then, you will have to hear the wacko accent I have ended up with after growing up in Rochester, living in Brooklyn and then in France where I pretty much only speak English to people who say things like, "Ee want to me free-und hoose."* You'll find out that I am a big dork who is barely capable of conversation in normal circumstances and becomes a giggly idiot as soon as a recording device is in front of me. And no, I haven't heard it yet. I'm on my way to work so I don't have time and I'm too darned scared.
Update: I've heard it now. It didn't live up to my worst fears, but I'm not going into broadcasting any day soon.
* "I went to my friend's house."

The intereview was great! Funny that you blogged on your accent because I was trying to decipher it (not in a bad way!). Plus now I know the "correct" way to pronounce "Clapotis" and I am glad for this as I will be knitting it soon!

i'm so glad you posted about this! knitcast will make the perfect addition to my ipod listening. and the interview was great, you don't sound wonky at all. i swear.
total sidenote: you will love living in montreal. i lived there for a while and loved it.

no, it's an excellent interview. i love the accent ;-)

I wonder if the clapotis into a shrug she mentioned was mine?

Great interview! (And you sounded like a radio professional...nothing to worry about.) I'm an American in Holland, who has started pronouncing her 'g's like there is a bug caught in my throat. Here's to fusion accents!
We were in Paris a few weeks ago, and I am wearing my Clapotis (or carrying it) in every photo of me.

It's a great interview, Kate! And ha ha, you sound exactly how I sound when I get back from a month in France - the intonations and everything. But I am very impressed with your pronunciation of "Bergere" - quite a feat for a non-native, ma chere Kate!

Kate - love the interview well done! I just finished my Clapotis in time for my trip to Paris so it was wonderful to hear your voice and your story about the Clapotis process as I finished off my last few rows.
So if you see a bright pink variegated Clapotis wondering the strees of Paris in July that will be me! (I know, it will be toooo warm but I am hoping for a cold front!) :-)

I just listened. Gave me something to "do" while knitting some stockinette. It was a great interview, and you really took the words out of my mouth about buying yarn here in France.

I'm downloading it as I write this! I'm curious to hear the person behind the great knitting. So glad Marie finally interviewed you. When she posted a request about who knitters wanted to know about, I put you. Hee hee!

you sound fabulous! so nice to put a voice with the name and all that. you still sound american with a hit of the french vowels here and there. :)
congrats on the interview - soon you'll have your own book, you know!

You wind up sounding very articulate - no need to worry or feel self-conscious at all! And your accent isn't so whack - it sounds like mine!

Actually if/when I can access Knitcast I will listen first! to yours! I think you're self conscious about your broadcast.
Cool! Hope lil' one is doing fine in there.

I thought you sounded quite nice, just making me wish even more that I could rule time and space and somehow make all the cool bloggers come knit with me. But after hearing you I feel that I've been saying "Phildar" with way too much midwestern in it!

That was a lovely interview! My fave so far, because - despite what you say - you sound so relaxed and friendly.

i have to go home from work to listen, but I am so curious about your Rochester/Brookyn accent! There should be some sort of club for us... i know several affected individuals :)

You were a wonderful interviewee! Not dorky at all! Thanks again for agreeing to do the interview!

I loved it! You have a very nice voice.

You sound great, not dorky but smart and charming. Maybe a litttle european accent but no trace of the Ra-cha-cha sound. yeaaaaah. I grew up there too, no longer do Merry Mary/ Ferry & Fairy all sound the same. Thanks for sharing the link for Knitcast.

I love Knitcast and I loved hearing you talk about your work. I wish that the interview had been longer; it was over all to soon!

It was great to hear you. Further evidence that you are a real person and not a ficitonal construct. :) I love the internet!

I just listened! Kate, you're so charming and sweet. Perfectly humble, and it was wonderful to learn more about you. Certainly not too giggly nor dorky!! Sounds as if you've lost that NY accent and simply sound American. Fun to listen and surely endears you to your admirers even more.
