To those of you who asked for more photos- I'm sorry. I just can't do it. I felt ridiculous enough having a photo of my belly up there, I just couldn't post more from every imaginable angle. So, about the voting, I could have told you last week that 8 of you were certainly wrong (none of the above! psha!). One of you suggested "one of each" and I was 100% sure that was wrong too. I just wasn't sure about the other 330 of you. Girl was in the lead most of the time and apparently for good reason - break out the pink, we're having a girl! Actually, please don't break out the pink. As unlikely as it is, I am really hoping to avoid light pink lace and ruffles. Soon enough, from what I hear, she'll be begging for pink, purple, butterflies and those creepy rainbow unicorns. I might as well dress her in something a little brighter and more fun (in my book) while I still have wardrobe control. So thanks to all of you for playing my little game. We got a kick out of reading all of your theories... I don't think I look worse than usual because she's "stealing my beauty". Hmmm. Maybe they made a mistake.

I wanted to wait until a couple deadlines went by before touching this stuff. First it started with a little innocent balling. Then, "just a toe." Then I started taking the darned sock everywhere with me. In my defense, the projects that I have to finish for deadlines aren't particularly portable and it's hard to write patterns in the subway. I'm knitting these toe up because I want to use up every last bit of yarn. I'm also using a circular needle again. I was using dpns, but I didn't like the only ones I could find and they were splitting the yarn and I was feeling too cheap to buy another set of 2mm dpns that I would probably just lose, so circs it is.

Oh, I was wrong! But yahoo! Its a girl! I am so not a pink or purple person and I say that if I have a girl someday, she is wearing greens, yellows, blues and whites... who says we have to follow the books! Congrats once again, I am so happy for you :)

A girl!! Congratulations Kate! Break-out the needles...how soon do you think you'll be passing on your design skills.

A girl! Awesome. Think of all the adorable knits you could design for her.

Congratulations on the girl! My first was a girl. The pink frilly phase was very short lived--we're in full bright colours, shorts and tanks, and wild space dyed yarns. My girl needs clothes to run around in, not look pretty in.
Have a wonderful pregnancy.

As the mother of 3 girls (aged 12, 8 and 6), congratulations. They make my every day -- all in different ways but I feel very lucky to stay home with them. And I remember so well how wonderful it feels to be pregnant, especially with my first one, in the beginning. It's a magical time, enjoy it.
Now, knitting -- I love the koigu colorway, just beautiful. And congratulations on the IK cover sweater. I must make it. You are a genius.

Oh congratulations! Girls are so cute! Of course, boys are too, but...anyway. I'll say to her what my Papa said to me when I was a growing little girl: "You are growing in grace and beauty every day."

How exciting! Congratulations on you new little peanut . . . question on your sock pattern . . . I am currently knitting some socks from the toe-up (my first pair ever) . . . however, your toes look more interesting (read: neat) than the pattern I am working from. Where did your pattern come from?
Thanks! Congrats again!

Congrats. Girls are great, and so much fun. You'll have out-of-body experiences all through her childhood, worry every minute of her adolescence, and then be her best friend for the rest of your life. What a great mommy you'll make!

Hooray... I was right! It was the dream. Hmm.... I wonder if that means I'll be having a 4th girl? I'll find out on July 7th. We're kind of hoping for a girl, though it really will be nice just to have a healthy baby.
And pink is good.... pink works. Just wait till you see her sweet complexion in something pink and your world will turn pink. I didn't want pink until I saw how much I love pink gingham.

Congratulations, Kate! That is so exciting! A girl - wow, how does it feel to know? After 10 fingers and 10 toes, the girl or boy part is just icing on the cake, right? ;) Fred is going to be a great dad to his daughter, too (I mean, the guy actually tried to learn how to knit!)!

Sugar and Spice, that's great news! Baby boys are good, of course, but the girls are more fun to dress up (grin).

Little girls are cool. Mine had a brief purple period...never liked pink...went from purple to blue to black (she's 17 now). Wasn't wild about unicorns but did have a thing for dragons.
Just wanted to say...I got my Interweave Knits this weekend and I love, love, love your cover sweater. Gorgeous.

Hooray, I am partial to girls. Have a wonderful preparation time.

I know I said boy, but little girls are just, well, so little girlish, and that's just lovely for you :) You wait till they start picking out those trainers with spangly light things which light up - then you get the glitter, the pink, and sparkly lighty-upy shoes. Be good in your koigu socks :)

How did I totally miss that poll!? I am out of it these days--sorry! I am going to make a late vote that it will be a boy, just to try to even things out. Can't wait to find out. I hope everything is going well for you!

Yay - little girls are the best! I know I have one of each and shouldn't be biased but there is something very special about little girls. I am so excited for you! Have you started her very first Anouk yet?
