woulda coulda shoulda
I would have gone to Rhinebeck for the last few years... but I was on another continent so I kept swearing, "next year, next year."
I could have gone to Rhinebeck this year... but I'm too pregnant and it's too far, so instead, I'm going to a yoga birth preparation class with Frog since it's about as far as I feel like waddling for the time being. I hope the rest of you have fun though. I'll be thinking of you while I'm doing my vocal toning and ocean breath. I won't even say "next year" this time.
I should have done a swatch and taken measurements... but I didn't. Instead, I did one of my mini swatches and ended up with this thing:

This is a thing I am/was making for Frog. But above, you see it looking out the window for the last time because it's about to be ripped. It's too big. What is "it?" It's a thing. I'll tell you when I get farther. I'm not saying more for fear that Frog will suddenly be inspired to check out the blog for the first time in months.
faithfully yours,
the wool festival virgin who is super jealous but is trying to seem like she doesn't care that much and is glad that there isn't a super fantastic yarn shop right next door to her or she might go out and do something reckless to make up for her lack of fiber and blog pal fun this weekend

Well, if it makes you feel any better, Clapotis was EVERYWHERE. and I mean, like every fifth person was sportin' one (including me!) So you were there in pattern spirit.
Vocal tuning! That sounds interesting.

If it makes you feel any better, I could tell you that it wasn't that much fun and you wouldn't have been treated like a ROCK STAR if you had showed up. Oh no, we wouldn't have descended on you in our hundreds and carried you around in a sedan chair like the Queen of Sheba. That would NOT have happened.

If we could all go to Rhinebeck! Well, there's always the Stitches shows... I think Thing is a mitten.

Hi! I went to Rhinebeck NY Sheep and Wool Festival (we go every year, I live near Albany) and if you want to see some pics, check out my blog. Hope this isn't considered spam! If so, just delete. KM

I've got a few things that need to be ripped out too, but I just don't have the heart to do it at the moment. I also just moved, and have no idea where the closest Real yarn shop is. Aggghh!!!
Enjoy your yoga class! It's such great exercise, pregnant or not!

I hope you will make it next year - it's absolutely worth the trip! And there were lots and lots of people toting babies of all sizes - definitely a family-friendly event. :)

I thought of you every time I saw Clapotis...I think we're due a few weeks apart. DH & I decided that next year I'll be taking only the bambina and the older three will go camping with Dad...or something like that.

i did go- my husband drove my prego but up there from philly! swell guy- hung out with the dogs and even tried helping me shop. i didn't get as much as at maryland- which was only about 10 skeins. i get confused in the middle of it all. i did manage to buy what i didn't at maryland. but had a dream i should've bought a spindle and roving! oh well more reasons to go again.

You're in good company. I didn't go either. :)
I live a little more than an hour away and I'm still a Rhinebeck virgin. Instead I spent the day knitting and nursing a nasty cold and the daughter who gave it to me. I'm going next year.

eh, if you came, you would have had to have bought a spindle and roving and spent two days spinning yarn and eating pizza. I'll tell you all about it later, and you won't have missed a thing.
oh, and there were claps EVERYWHERE.

I am not at Rhinebeck either... had to work at the yarn store.. but its okay, I sent a friend with money, so I'll still get some goodies. Hope all is well!

Don't worry, you're not alone. Not only do I live a continent away from all the fun, but I've never been close to the action. That's right. I'm a fellow fiber fest virgin.

Hey, you're not the only wool festival virgin! Maybe someday we'll both be able to make it to one of those...

I'm not going either. Just think -- next year you can roll babe in a stroller with Lots of stash space!

Awwwwwwwwwww. You're breaking my heart. I'll be thinking of you every second. Not the same as being there, I know. It really isn't all that it's cracked up to be! Really. No, really!

i'm not going either. and i actually know people who are, but they didn't ask me to come with them, so they can bite me ... i didn't want to go anyway.
;)

I'm not able to make it to Rhinebeck either, and it's much closer for me than you! We can be jealous together (in spirit, anyway). Maybe we'll see each other there next year... or whenever. :) I hope you're well, my dear! I'm happy to see you posting! Have a lovely yoga class ... breathe in... try to think of something other than cuddly sheep and cute alpacas and fiber heaven ... breathe out...

I'll give you a ride next year. You and kid. I'm going next year. Damned if I'm going to miss Cari and kissing an alpaca...
Want to go sheep-farm-hunting and/or yarn shopping this weekend? ;-)

I'm missing it this year too. Let's say next year, though. Both of us. Next year you and Blossom and I will meet up at Rhinebeck and kiss an alpaca and eat some fried dough. What do they make Baby Bjorns for, if not for carting babies to wool festivals?

Don't worry, you are not alone not going to Rhinebeck. Still I did check to see if it was at all possible for me to go but I got back to reality pretty quickly. ;)
Thinking of you, hope the yoga birth prep class is fun at least. :)
