Opening ceremonies
I was cooking dinner during the opening ceremonies. I finally cast on before it was over but realized that it would never fit over my head. So I ripped and started again this morning. I'm winging it. I'm making a top down raglan with my morehouse merino. It's going to have a kind of tall turtleneck. I'm hoping it will be a little floppy, but this yarn isn't looking like it wants to flop. Oh well. I'll make it tall and then if I hate it, I'll cut out the cast on and rip and re-bind off. I was thinking of making a little cable down the raglans. I'm still thinking about it. Maybe I should. It's not too late. Hmmm.
Anyone see the knit scarves of the Belarus women last night? I'm not the only one who closely examines the outfits, I assume.

Don't feel bad about noticing the scarves - I embarassed myself at one point by noticing, from across the room, that no, they don't sell scarves in my university's colours, that's a hand knit one.

I missed the scarves, but have been keeping an eye out for hats on the skiers and snowboarders.
Loved Tadpole's photo shoot!!

I missed the scarves but have been keeping an eye out for hats on the skiers and snowboarders, they sometimes have some interesting ones.
Loved Tadpole's photo shoot!

Hi Kate - I found more info on those Belarus scarves, namely that it's the same pattern as on their flag, which makes it easier to find a copy of the pattern. :) If you're curious I put up a couple links at http://dewarewolfe.blogspot.com .

Hey, Kate, just wanted to say I love your Sunrise Circle Jacket in the new IK! If I hadn't gotten gauge for my Olympic Sweater, I was going to do that instead. But as soon as I can, I'll cast on for it! Then I'll have my own KG KAL going - I've got Clapotis and the Pearl Buck Swing Jacket on the needles already.

Yup, when the Belarus team came out, I exclaimed "LOOK AT THOSE SCARVES!!!". I think my husband now worries about me even more! Do you think they would send us the pattern - LOL!!

We knitters just see things differently, esp when it comes to the wearing of the wool. There were several notable hat and scarf sets among the atheletes.

Yes yes! I did the same, I examined all the hats and scarfs! So glad I'm not the only nuthead!

At exactly 5:15am this morning I was Goggling Belarus Opening Ceremonies to see those damn scarves! I also wanted to find good picture of those Austrian hats because they were way too Chai pet for me! lol

Hi Kate - The Knitting Olympics - how very ambitious of you. I was thinking about it (I have a Clapotis that's just over half done), but then I couldn't put myself on a time line. How is Tadpole? I can't wait for Tadpole and Nutella to meet!

I was watching all the scarves and hats too! It's good to know I'm not alone in my oddities. I got my new IK this afternoon I love the Sunrise Circle Jacket. Now I have two of your jackets on my to-knit list!

I missed the scarves on the Belarus team but I loved Great Britain's scarves, I couldn't tell if they were double-knit or intarsa either way they were beautiful.

I liked those scarves too, and just found a pic:

Also the Brits had some gorgeous green/black intarsia scarves, I think. I'll go looking for more scarf pix and link them on my blog!

I noticed the scarves! I pointed them out to my husband, who just nodded. He's no fun.

I was closely aware of two things - knitwear and the really bizarre selection of music that played during the parade of nations. I saw some scarves I loved and some really nice fair isle too!
By the way, have I told you lately how adorable the tadpole is?
xoxo
