Feeling the pressure
I have a day by day plan for the project I'm working on right now. I've mapped out exactly what I have to knit each day in order to make the deadline with no worries. On Friday, I was 3 days ahead of schedule and feeling great. Then I held the piece up and realized that it's all shorter than I wanted. I tried to convince myself that it's ok like that, but I just can't. So I'm about to do something painful. I have to rip. 40 rows. 40 wiiiiiiiiiiiiide rows. I'm so bummed. Now I'll be 4 days behind.

My other projects aren't going much better. I bought buttons for Tadpole's sweater but I'm incapable of making decisions right now. I don't know which buttons to use or how I want to do the shoulders or neck so it's just stalled. And since it's so crappy and cold out. I would like to get this thing done so she can wear it before the sweltering heat arrives.

And above is my new obsession. I want all of my notions to be together in one place. I found these nifty containers at the dollar store. I wish they had bigger ones. Can you imagine? My whole house arranged in these things... All the wools in one level, cottons in another, armchair in another... I miss how clean and empty our apartment was before the boxes arrived from France.

Martha Stewart Online used to have a lot of really cute little containers and things to organise your life. I love little containers and things with little cubby holes and drawers - maybe I was a squirrel in a past life tucking little things here and there.

you are pretty crazy by the way even though I don't know you.

Try Storables or the Container Store. They are a little more expensive, but between the two, you will be containered out. I love it.

I love those little boxes! A friend has similar ones for her spices, but the bottoms are magnetic, and she hangs them up on a wall in her kitchen... I bet that would be a pretty way to store buttons.

if you look on joann.com there are some of those containers in the beading then storage section. i found that the beading storage is perfect for keeping track of my stitch markers and other small hidey knitting equipment

You know we all have faith in you - you'll get it done!
Someone above mentioned finishing their Clapotis -- I'm currently at a conference, and I've been wearing my Clapotis in the over-air-conditioned rooms, and I've gotten so many compliments! Thanks fro a great pattern!

Love the buttons!

You could make a ton of money reselling those boxes. My god, what I could do with them to straighten my life!

Oh Lord! I could become obsessive about buying those little tins and then filling them will all manner of notions and whatnot. I have a big weakness for small things.

Those containers are perfect! Must go find similar ones.

Good luck! I'm impressed with the day-by-day schedule. I think I need to do that for the sets I'm painting for a play in mid-July. Right now, it seems like I have soooo much time....
P.S. I love the buttons on the left!

Cool little containers - do they stack up or screw together? The picture looks like a tower that screws into sections.

I like the buttons on the right. I think it's cause they're shiny.

Heh heh... and really big containers to keep the people organized! one for clothes, one for pets, one for crawling babies... one for small knitted monsters...
(I FINISHED MY CLAPOTIS! Using Handmaiden yarn. Thank you for coming up with such a great pattern! It's simple enough that you can work on it while chatting at SnB, and yet, dropping those stitches keeps your interest.)

So organized! It makes me hang my head in shame when I think about the "organization" system I have in place. And believe me I am using the words in the loosest terms possible.

Can you snip, separate, pick up live stitches, knit additional length and graft on snipped piece?

Hi Kate! Sorry I've been so out of touch lately - going back to med school takes a lot of time. I'd love to see what you're up to. And by the way, at some point, I want your list of publications, since I seem to happen upon random patterns of yours - and YOU DON'T EVER TELL ME ABOUT THEM! You know I love your patterns, so don't hold back on me, babe. How's Tadpole? What's she up to these days? Hopefully we'll chat some day soon...A-C

WOW...I LOVE the wooden buttons on the left side of your picture. They are beautiful! As for the 40 row rip-out, bummer. But hey, you were ahead once, I am sure you can catch up. :)

So funny, I've been scouting rummage sales for small containers -- a quarter here, a dime there -- testing various shapes and sizes to hold various accoutrements. Um, yeah, now if I could only get that "everything in its place, all neat and orderly" to carry over to something larger than a set of DPNs!!
I hope you catch up soon.

Breathe... :)
And ooooh I adore those little containers - I nearly cracked for some at a japanese store here not long ago, but I think I'll have to go get some now... I'm curious about what exactly you classify as a "notion"... What is that?

Keep on Swimming Keep On Swimming!
Do you know what that's from?
I need help naming a new colorway. I'm going to e-mail you. Don't be a wise-ass either okay? Is that possible?
Bises! Mwuah!
