The post where I show my mess

I keep thinking about posts and meaning to post. Unfortunately, the wireless connection between my brain and my computer isn't working yet so here we are 2 weeks into May. One of the posts I was meaning to write was written by Wendy the other day, so... never mind.

Here's the sock I knit while I'm hiding in the bathroom to have 2 minutes of peace, or when Tadpole actually naps, or is busy sucking on things other than me. I call it the "2 round sock" because it's a miracle if I ever knit more than 2 rounds in one sitting. It's Scout's hedgehog yarn.

And here's part of the progress on Tadpole's sweater. I'm working on the neck of the front and still debating how I'm going to deal with the shoulders so we'll be able to get it over her head. There will certainly be some sort of snaps or buttons. I just haven't decided what. And after sending off my most recent work FO, I gave myself the weekend off and whipped out a sleeve. The end is so near I can taste it.

And just because I'm feeling like a slob and I'm ashamed of it and for some reason have this strange compulsion to stand up and admit it, here's my "desk." It's actually an ottoman that I've been meaning to get reupholstered. Frog and I decided to share a real desk which quickly meant I had no desk since I'm the one with the laptop. On the "desk" you can find a bank statement, yarn for 5 different projects, about a thousand dknitting needles, the only pair of socks I have successfully finished, some copies of Martha Stewart Living (yes, I love Martha. Sue me), Frog's graphic tablic, a box of notions, several knitting books, the 2006 Canadian census, random receipts, a post it note that says "TOWELS" on it and a copy of Harold and the Purple Crayon. And ooh! there are the missing scissors! Jessica also showed her mess today. Anyone else want to show theirs?

Nice chatting with you all. Have a great weekend and happy mother's day.

It's not really that messy. Just remember nobody ever lies on their deathbed wishing they had done more housework. I have a portable workspace but a pic of what it was like on Sunday is on my blog.

I don't think I can photograph my mess. The final result may be me, weeping in a pile of black cat har, all my illusions shattered. I'm still operating under the misguided notion that I've got things in hand.

Happy belated Mother's Day! I can't believe I'm wishing someone I don't even know a Happy Mother's Day before I've been able to wish my own Mother a Happy Mother's Day. Not going to think about it... that whole illusion of control thing.

Belated mother's day wishes to you and Tadpole. If it's any comfort to you, my entire house is littered with piles. Once upon a time, i was a neat, organized person, but now....well, it's much easier to simply sweep stuff into piles that i'll "deal with later." ummmmm, right. In any event, if that's the extent of your mess you're in fine shape.

Happy Mother's Day!

Just wait until Tadpole learns to pull up. Next year what's on top of your ottoman will be on top of your fridge (where my 5 WIPs, sissors, needles are).

Love that bathroom knitting.

So, Happy M Day. You will have many more, I'm sure. Just know that you can knit two rounds, and if that is all you can do, well, at least you can knit two rounds.

It does take getting used to! (And I have to say that I have some of that same yarn you're showing in your messy pic and about the same laptop, too).

Can't wait to see tadpole's finished sweater, love everything about it, the colours, motifs.. everything.
You're brave to show your mess. Don't think I'd ever dare. And Oh, I have the same phildar book.. ;-)

I envy your knitting ability. I can barely cross stitch! And you have a beautiful baby. :)

I hear your pain about the mess and the two minutes' peace.
Happy first Mother's Day, Kate!

I'm glad it's not just me that is surrounded by mess.

I can't wait to see tadpole's sweater finished.

Gee, I didn't think I was starting a trend. :)

Happy Mother's Day!

(I'm in total mess denial, therefore unable to share mine.)

Happy Mother's Day to You, too! Hope Tadpole gets you something Wonderfully Bonne!!! Jessica will be thrilled you took after her show-your-mess-day post! Yeah Sock!

Those socks still haven't been put back in the drawer yet?

I had a hilarious message on my machine which sounded like you called me but forgot it was you who called, and you were wondering who in hell was calling you and not saying anything. I miss you. This week has sucked rocks. Surgeons were involved. We'll talk soon, I hope...meanwhile, bisoux :-)
