Trekking list

Check

Check

Check

Check

Check... but maybe something else would be a better toy

Because I'm not going to do any strenuous trekking, I decided to do some strenuous knitting and knit two socks on one needle for the first time. Rounds completed - .75

Two girls. One me. Not enough toys or arms or ideas for entertaining restless babies. This has turned into a strenuous trek after all. Maybe the knitting plan needs to be revised in favor of simplicity.

Second comment, forgive me. Responding to the "Who would want to read old diary entries?" query from April, 2005, ME, ME, ME! Working upward from your earliest posted entries, I'm up to one year ago and looking forward to catching up to the present.

Well, fun for TADPOLE, at least. ;-)

You are knitting about as much as I excpect to once the baby comes in Oct.
I also would like to know the brand of the stroller - looks so sturdy!

I never understood how people could knit/clean/work/shower with their kids around. Every time I tried to do SOMETHING besides wait on them my crew had some emergency and needed me. And I became so frustrated and mad at them (and me) I eventually just stopped trying to do much when they were around.
Now they are 3 and 6 and much happier, and more independent. Now they help me do stuff, rather than hinder it. There is hope.

Can those babies be any more photogenic & gorgeous? : )

Hilarious.
Braver than I. I would never even try knitting while out with the boys for fear of utter frustration.

Ms. Tadpole looks a LOT like you, at least based on the pictures that I've seen on the web site. She's super cute and so big!
Posted by: mia at June 24, 2006 08:37 AM
Aww, look how big she's gotten. I went and stopped checking your blog (not that I commented before anyway) and your baby got bigger and cuter anyway. End of this summer, I'm moving up to Canadia myself, not too far from Montreal, with my husband (a canuck himself). I hear in my ears that the knitting is good up there, le.

welcome to my everyday, girlie! what a great day it looked to have been, despite the lack of needle time. you gave it your best effort.
tadpole & cauli are cuteness indeed!
xoxo - bon weekend!

She certainly is her mother's daughter! teach them young. She loves fiber already! Love this post. You have a very cute kid.
;-)

Great post...loved it. Be thankful that they're no at the walking stage.

Really nice taking the yarn away from the girly.
I miss you!

oh my, you are brave and a better person than me if you don't get soo frustrated when the little darlin won't buy into your plans! mine is eight months old...

ooooh, love those squishy babies!!!
That hand in the last picture cracks me up-- preventing baby-tippage?

Adorable babies! Where did you get the Tadpole's outfit? My baby needs two more outfits for summer (out grew two from her summer wardrobe already, yikes!) and I need to replenish her stash.

great pictures of your trek! i'm with everyone else above - great stroller! what make is it and where did you find it?
Posted by: wendy at June 22, 2006 01:09 PM
Thank god they're so frickin' cute.
Posted by: Julia at June 22, 2006 01:00 PM
She's clearly your daughter....she doesn't WANT any other toy -- only the yarn!
Posted by: Norma at June 22, 2006 12:58 PM
Oh! Sorry you didn't get much done. Looks like a fun trip though. I adore Tadpole's aquatic inspired outfit. What cute babies! Thanks for sharing.

AWWWW!!! Yep - that's about how my knit trekking goes. heh Last week we went to a concert in the park. I was only trying to knit one sock on one circ.... and I got about three rows done in an hour. Not much progress there. And all I did was tend to the baby! Daddy chased my 2yo all over the place!! heh
P.S. I want your stroller! In a double-wide please! :)
Posted by: Laura at June 22, 2006 11:39 AM
How did you manage your cast-on for two socks on one circular? I've been casting on two different needles, then moving one of them over.
Also, I saw your question on the Trek Along blog. I like my socks a little short, so I make a leg that's about 4 or 5 inches before the heel and have never had a problem using yarn with the same yardage as the Trekking (this is my first time using Trekking). Usually, I have a little leftover, even.
_Very_ sweet babes--you're a lucky lady!

Welcome to my world ...

The babies are so cute and yes an armful or two (or three). Good luck knitting a little more when they are asleep.

Two socks on one needle, two babies and one grownup...I'm seeing a pattern here! Have a happy day.

Baby on left has serious stripes going on! Knitting and baby or babies? It's so frustrating when the baby decides you are not going to knit that often it's better to not even try!
Posted by: Mary K. in Rockport at June 22, 2006 09:17 AM
Sorry you didnt get much knitting done, but they are very cute babies!
Posted by: Sarah at June 22, 2006 09:05 AM
Hmmmmm. Yep, I would have to agree!
You do however get extra points for the gorgeous scenery (of both the green and pink variety)!

I enjoyed your trek (probably more than you did). Beautiful photos and beautiful babies. I'll be watching to see how 2socks1circ goes; I want to learn that. Best wishes!

Also wondering about the stroller! Great pics (check). Also, empathy flowing your way over the knitting-with-babes conundrum.
Posted by: JulieFrick at June 22, 2006 07:26 AM
Sorry about the lack of knitting time but other than that it looked like a perfect day. Gorgeous kiddo (and cauliflower too)!
Posted by: Jenny at June 22, 2006 06:14 AM
Okay, you can tell where my heads at. What kind of stroller is that? Is it a Bugaboo (dear god i hope not because it is really out of my price range)? I love the big tires and is that mosquito netting?? We SO need that here. Do you like this model? I'm in the market, you know, and nearly clueless not to mention totally overwhelmed, so do tell.
Adorable girls, by the way. Makes me excited for my own.

Tadpole is so cute! She's really growing up fast! Excellent stroller you have! :)
Posted by: Aimee at June 22, 2006 05:22 AM
I love this post!! Tadpole looks too cute! And so does the cauliflower! I'm also very curious about the two-sock-one-needle adventure.
Posted by: saskia at June 22, 2006 04:25 AM
Great trek!
I have never seen socks being knitted on one needle before, so I will follow your blog to see how this turnes out!
