Guess what?

Guess where I'm typing this post? The library!
Guess what I'm in love with? The library! (even though 3 of the books I wanted were not on the shelves where the computer insisted they were)

I was going to drop off some CDs I had taken out and then head over to knitting tonight. Instead, I got a little weak in the knees when I saw all the books and the computerized card catalogue (or whatever you call it) and I stuck around. How can you NOT love free books and free CDs and free DVDs?!? Now they're going to kick me out. I have to go check out my books now, but I had to share my love of the library with you. Better post later, I promise.

I'm a librarian, too! In my downtime work minutes it's where I've started and finished two clapotis and where I'm starting my THIRD today! ;>

the library - even our little countryside one - is one of my favorite places ever. ok, so it's not vienna or luzern, but they have everything. and if they don't they will order it for you and allow you to take it home for 3 weeks at a go. and now i can even request items online at home and they call when they're in. *sigh* the library. oh yeah, and ours also has a public herb garden. enjoy your new discovery!

speaking from experience, the shelvers steal the good books which is why the computer insists they are on the shelves when they're not. maybe steal is too strong a word. more like borrow without checking them out...

My love affair with the library started early and never left. While all the other 15 years old were scampering to get jobs at the Mall I became a 'page' at the local library. I loved every moment of it and never missed the food court.:)

I got so excited about libraries that I became a librarian (as did many of your readers)! Libraries and knitters make a nice combination.

I got so excited about libraries that I became a librarian (as did many of your readers). I think there is something about libraries and knitters. We were meant to be together.

I love the library, too. Tadpole's a lucky little amphibian, to have a mum like you to share the love :0)

Thank goodness for libraries and librarians. I spent countless hours at our local library as a kid, and got wonderful guidance from the kind and knowledgeable librarians there, which undoubtedly contributed to my life-long love of reading. One of the best things about my current neighborhood is that the main branch of the Jersey City library is but a block from my home. My kids spend loads of time there.

I agree - and you can take Tadpole to the kids' section for kids' events w. no worry about her noise level. By the way, how is her knitting going?

I, too, am a librarian. Libraries are great. The "computerized card catalogue" is called an OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue), although that term is so outdated I wish they would come up with another one.

I'm librarian too...and still amazes me to think of free books ;)

Libraries totally rock! I work in a library and go to library school.....and I get all my DVDs and knitting books from the library. Saves me a fortune AND I can look at things for as long as I want without spending a $. They have E Zimmermann! I even got the Knitting Workshop videos through Interlibrary Loan. Coolio!!!!! The computers are great too.

Libraries need better PR!

Free libraries! A concept I am forced to forget while I live in France. :)

Love your comments on the library (especially since I'm a librarian!)

I love the library, too....and it has air-conditioning! I really like the way they can find books for me from all over the state, since we have a relatively small city library. I can wait for a good book or audio-book! I'm a grown-up. Now where are those 3 books I asked for 2 weeks ago? Waaaaaaaaa......

I LOVE the library. Best part -- reserving books on-line. I usually check out a knitting book from the library. If I like it, I'll buy it. If not, back it goes.

I was just there a little bit ago. I check out about 25 books a week for the kids. I love it. They love it.
