A game you'll lose
Tonight, Frog and I watched a movie together. I knit from the very beginning of the movie to the very end. The film was 136 minutes long. Guess how many rows I knit. Go on. Guess... Nope. Guess again... Nope. Guess again.... NOPE! Give up? Seven.
Now guess how many rows I have left to knit. No, don't bother. Guess how many movies I have to watch in order to finish this thing. 51 ROWS. Each row gets bigger than the last, so even if we think that I can keep knitting a row in the same amount of time, I need SEVEN AND A HALF FREAKING MOVIES!
I am knitting a shawl by the way. I'm not knitting a sweater for a car or something. And below you see the shawl. The lovely, lovely shawl. The shawl that I just stabbed with all the needles I had around, plus a crochet hook, just to show it who's boss. I have one chart left, hypotheticallly a quicker one. Maybe each row will only take 10 minutes, rather than 20. Humor me.

If I were someone who swore... actually, I do swear lots even. I just can't bring myself to leave it in when I post to my blog, so if I were someone who didn't edit herself online, you wouldn't even be able to read this post for all of the expletives that would be flying everywhere... Let's not even mention if I found that I had to rip to fix a mistake.
Also, if you didn't bother to watch the video that I posted the other day, I just thought I would mention that though I am going a bit insane right now, that is not me tearing up knitting and drooling in the photo below. I stab knitting, not tear it. We won't talk about the drooling.

I feel your pain, sister. I started a pi shawl back in May and it's on time-out right now because it let me think that getting to the border meant I was almost done. LIES.

I started a shawl that will probably take me weeks of t.v. viewing to finish....maybe years lol As a new knitter it probably wasn't the best choice but I am determined!!! Working on it with children around or even hubby is a no no though...they get me confused lol

After 50 years of knitting, I've finally decided to tackle lace patterns. I'm working on Sivia Harding's Diamond Fantasy Scarg/Shawl, as well as another narrow scarf. I have spend more time frogging than knitting, but I think I've got it now (for the tenth time). It's very reassuring that even you have taken up arms against the lace!
Love your work.

You sure showed that shawl who's boss. It does look lovely, btw, even in its wounded state. Any new Tadpole photos?

Wait...does that mean that at some point in this baby-having experience, you get to watch a movie the whole way through and knit at the same time?

That's why I do not think about it too much when knitting lace. Just go, go, go. I tinked more River than I knit, but it's done after nearly 10 months and I love it, so there you go!

There's a reason I haven't knit much lace since becoming a mom... Good luck with the shawl!

I'll trade you a skein of Spice sock yarn for your couch. heh I really really like that couch. Such a nice backdrop for your pretty knitting! :)
Who's this shawl gonna be for?
