Blame it on the rain
Why do I have Milli Vanilli in my head? I do. It's sad, but true. I hope the soundtrack for this weekend will be better than that of 8th grade. Frog, Tadpole and I are off to Rhinebeck to look at animals, yarn, bloggers and maybe even buy a very extravagant 30th birthday* present for myself. Say, "hi" if you see us. In lieu of handknits, I might be wearing a jaunty green cap that I treated myself to yesterday. Or I might be wearing the t-shirt** Frog got me. Or both.
* Before you ask: I'm not at all upset about being 30. I did dumb things in my 20s. I survived. I'd like to think that I will have more happiness, self-confidence and do fewer stupid things in the next ten years than I did in the last ten. One can only hope. My only regret is that I never wore hot pants when I was young enough (and had the ass and legs) to get away with it.
**To fully appreciate the t-shirt, you need 3-D glasses, so you might want to be prepared.

Happy birthday! (A little late.) You know, I looked for you at Rhinebeck and saw Tadpole in her beautiful sweater, but not you . . . until I saw the photo over at Carole's and realized that you were the one wearing that gorgeous green hat. I really wanted to introduce myself and tell you in person how much I like your designs (especially the USMP), but . . . JUST missed you!
Tadpole, though, is beautiful. She looked very happy sitting with her dad!

Oh, rats! I met a BUNCH of Kate's at Rhinebeck, but alas, not ONE of them was you!
I did see a cute baby, though!

I saw the back of you and Tadpole at Rhinebeck. Nice jaunty hat! It took me a few minutes but it was Tadpole's sweater that I recognized..

Happy happy birthday to you. 30 seems so young to me, I am now 38 even though I dont really feel much older. Maybe things have sagged in places that I prefer them not to, but other than that, just a bit wiser I hope. I do hope you have a wonderful time at Rhinebeck, and I absolutely love Tadpoles sweater, just gorgeous, and who cares about different colored thread, its an original so you can it was designed like that.

Happy Birthday. Enjoy your 30's. 36 was my favorite age. By then I had it figured out and going on. Now I'm retired and a grandma. Every age has its benefits. Enjoy Rhinebeck too. I'm a jealous stay at home.

Happy Birthday! My 30th seems like eons ago, and my husband and I were just talking about it over dinner (he was 22, I was 30)...
Now that I'm 43, I wonder what it is like to be 30...
Have fun on your trip! I wish I could be out there with you all...

Happy Birthday and good for you. There's no reason to fear any age. We need to concentrate how much more depth we gain with every year of our lives. Also, congratulations on the upcoming IK patterns. Lovely stuff!

Here here to the 30 sentiment! Happy Birthday! I too am rapidly approaching the 30th birthday and feel the same as you. I can still do all the fun stuff I did in my 20's but with more wisdom and a better sense of who I am and what I want.

I googled, and Rhinebeck is 5.5 hours away from me. Instead, I'll be driving down to Ohio (about 16 hrs away) and visiting my family and friends for a couple of days, then getting Daddy to drive me back up to Windsor so I can Via myself home.
Maybe I should just go to Rhinebeck, but I have to see a man about a car.

Did you see Anouk on the cover of the 2007 Knitty calendar? That's got to be a nice birthday present. :) I think there's a Clapotis or two inside, as well:

And but your hotpants on because when you turn into 40 then it is not possible anymore and you regret that you didn't wore them when you were 30!
And life is getting nicer and nicer when you getting older!
