Last Friday in Montreal

this knitter (I don't have to link or to even tell you who it is, do I?)

Here are me and Tadpole mingling with the knit and famous. She held my sock.

and here's Kate, aka Miss Ewe, who drove in from Kingston. Notice her clapotis. Yes, I know that you all are sick of seeing clapotis, but I was in France when the whole clapotis explosion happened. It's new to me.
Stephanie was lovely. The Montreal knitters were lovely. Kate was lovely. It was lovely to see all of the Montreal Knits women (I'm too lazy to link to them all right now) and meet a couple McGill knitting women and other lovely women too. The book representative guy amused Tadpole and was lovely. Frog was lovely for taking Tadpole home so I could hang out with the knitters.

It is impossible to become tired of the clapotis, it is stunning. I have made a supersized clapotis and as soon as I finished I knew I would make one for each season.

The clapotis will always be new and exciting. Mine is of Fleece Artist Kid Mohair and I want to make at least one more. Show us all the clapotis in their natural habitats.

well, I finished my 4th clapotis and am embarking on my 5th... this one brown cashmere. I have made them in linen, cotton rayon and as far as I can tell the explosion is still going stgrong. and since you want a quarter for every one made. I owe ya a dollar. everytime I see that beautiful child I can't help but remember that day at
Bon Marche when you had received a worrying letter yet were so kind to me and my daughter. so many good things happenend to you since that day. I am so glad to have met you. you make me laugh and inspire me. two very good ;things.

I think it would be awesome to see something I designed all over the place! I'm super proud of your Clapotis!

Awww, and look at baby girl in her beautiful sweater! Thanks for sharing the festivities.

Dude, show me one person who's sick of Clapotis. Hm? Thought so.

Neat pic of you and Tadpole and Stephanie -- hope you are framing the picture to hang by your computer or in the living room or by Tadpole's bed to inspire her!!!

oh you should be proud of your clapotis pattern. i am currently doing my 6th since the end of september. all female family members have been gifted with one and the one i am doing now is for my colleague. many people ask for the pattern. we are clapotified here in copenhagen whatever that means. the one i gave to my niece yesterday was soon converted into a blanket for albert, her baby boy.
bravo, kate

You are soooo lucky! Clapotis? I'll be the last to knit one & I have no excuse.

I'm so envious that you got to see Stephanie--I can't wait for her to head out here my way. Clapotis hasn't been huge out here in California--mainly because it's too warm. It's new to me too, and I'm still working on mine!

I'm not sick of Clapotis! That pattern was the reason I started reading your blog.
I made two out of Silk Garden with one less straight repeat each, and yet I used the full 700m. Weird.

See, I told you so. And yay for Frog.

Looks like a great time was had by all.
Kate's Clapotis is lovely ... I've made two from Silk Garden (which is what hers looks like), and am inordinately fond of the way the stripes counter the dropped stitches. The softness is a bonus.

Sounds like a wonderful evening. Tadpole gets cuter every time I see her.

Yay for the Yarn Harlot! And she held your sock? *fainting* How cool is that?

You belong right in there with the "knit and famous" ya know. Lovely clapotis in the picture. I can never decide on a yarn to use for one. I've made at least a hundred in my mind. hehe So sweet of Frog to take Tadpole so you could have fun with the grownups. :)

So, I'm thinking you had a nice time hangin' with the knitters. Sounds like a fun night, Kate. Tadpole is adorable. ; )

You, too, were lovely. So much fun to meet you, even though I totally geeked out when I found out you were you. Tadpole is a sweetheart.
As to Sarah's question, for my part, the clappy above is as wide as the original pattern calls for, with one extra straight section. She's about 18" wide and nearly 6" long. (6.5 balls of Noro SG)

Now the entire world knows my true identity--thankyouverymuch! (Should any bill collectors ask you, just tell 'em I ran off with their money to add to my stash). Ha!!*
*Actually, I'm not kidding. But you know this.

It was definitely lovely!

Looks like you had a great time! Mama deserves that yo!

I'm glad you had such a nice time meeting up with all the knitters! Tadpole is so sweet looking. She looks very much like my own daughter who was born a couple days before her.
I have a question about Clapotis. The one in the picture above looks pretty big--is this the one you are wearing as a scarf in the pictures in the pattern on knitty.com, or is this the "stole" variation mentioned in the pattern? I'm really not sure what a stole is, but I'd like to make Clapotis and I'd like it kind of big, like the one in the picture.
Thanks!
