First days of school

Another first: I'm going travel to give a class for the first time... or give a class while I'm traveling, really. On April 14th I'll be teaching a two toe up socks on one circular needle class (come up with a fancy/cute/concise/nice name for me and I'll give you a treat) and a design your own perfect fit top-down raglan (name also needed) at New York Knits. I'd be honored to see any of you lovely Rochesterians who'd like to come. I don't have cute buttons like Lucy does, but I promise we'll have fun anyway. And I promise that I've put loads of thought into the classes even if I haven't thought up a pithy name yet.

As a name for your class, what about Magic Two Toes?
a) magic loop
b) two at once
c) starts at the toe.

Isn't Lucy just lovely? She's so down to earth and sensible - for someone who carries a chicken purse.
Heh heh.

Double (no) Trouble?
Two Sox Rox?

Hey, stranger! Hi yourself! Tadpole is growing ever more adorable. :) I also got an email from the lovely woman at Effiloche who said she'd seen you. Please tell her hello from me. And all the best to you, Frog and Tadpole from me, too!!

I took a class with Lucy in November in Minnesota, on the beautiful shores of Lake Superior. It was Lucy's grafting class and it changed my world. I had previously suffered from graftphobia.
You could come to Minnesota for a class, couldn't you, Pretty pleeez?

Oh, being in Rochester finally pays off! HA! Your class sounds good, and I want to learn the toe up method, any room left in your class?
Posted by: Katie at April 3, 2007 09:36 AM
Um. Will you be in NYC at all? 'cause we could have a playdate.

Hi, I'm not sure if I've ever left you a comment before, but I just finished knitting your Sweet Pea sweater and it's lovely. Thanks for a great pattern! As for your class, this just popped into my head: Round the Loop from Toes to Heels! As for the sweater class, I'm having a little more trouble: Knit to Fit Raglan

I'm going to take my first knitting class this summer! I can't believe I never taken one before! I've taken spinning classes, and dyeing classes, but never knitting.

Two Magic Socks On One Loop
I tried to be helpful. We'll blame it on today being Monday if that's okay. I swear, I really do live on the wrong coast. /bitter

hmm...
2 toes + 1 needle = socks

When I knit two toe-up socks at once on a single circular needle, I tell people I'm knitting bofum. As in, "Bofum at once on a magic loop."
I don't think it deserves a treat, but it's certainly easier than "two socks at once from the toe-up on magic loop".

Can i just say how insanely jealous I am of the Rochester knitters? I want you to come down and teach classes in NYC! Honestly, if Rochester wasn't such a haul, i'd come up. Hmmmmm.
Names? How about "Fancy Footwork: Two Toe-up Socks on One Circular Needle" or "Steps Ahead: Two Toe-up Socks on One Circular Needle?"
As to the sweater class, the thing that immediately comes to mind is something I hear frequently in my line of work: "Take It From the Top."
Sorry if these are lame. I'm trying my best, but I could use a shot of caffeine.

i've read your blog for months, and love it, but never commented until just now - I grew up in Rochester! but alas, i live in NYC now and won't be able to attend your class - darn :( come teach in nyc as soon as you can!

I live in Rochester, NY and was SO excited to read that you'll be here to teach! Then I saw the date - April 14. Darn! I'll be out of town (far away in New Mexico). I wish you many knitting blessings. And please come back again!

How about "It's So Me!"

I have never taken a Lucy class either - and I have no excuse, she lives in my city. I love her little buttons, they are insanely cute! Double knitting, that is definitely a class I need (I can't figure it out for the life of me)

When are you giving the class? I'm near NYC now, but my husband is still finishing his degree at Cornell in Ithaca and I have an aunt who lives in Rochester, so it might be possible for me to take your class if stuff aligns correctly. :)
Glad you enjoyed the Lucy Neatby class. It must be nice to learn rather than teach sometimes.

I haven't taken a class with Lucy Neatby, but met her at Stitches West. She is amazing! I bought her DVDs, pale comparison to the real thing. I am coming up with nothing in the name department. Some help I am.
