Edith's needles

I've been keeping this box on top of my bookcase for a while. I love what's in it, but somehow I just don't want to touch it. Not in a creepy way, more in a respectful one, if that makes any sense. Look what's inside.

A woman who lives in the same place as my grandmother gave it to her to give to me. Somehow I just don't feel right about mixing them with my own tools. Many of them are probably older than I am. You can see the changes in Susan Bates logos through these needles. I think they need their own home, so for now, they're staying in the silver box.

How often to do you see "pins" anymore. I never do.

She also gave me a bunch of yarn that looks like it was meant to become a sweater. I really have too much yarn already so I think I'm going to pass on the gift to someone else. I am also doing some destashing. So as soon as I can get my act together, there will be a yarn giveaway/sale.

Photastic

Hi. Just back from a week in New York. New York Knits was great. The shoe shopping was great. I bought 2 3 4 several pairs of shoes. I had fish fry, ate ice cream, discovered the wonder of pausing and fast forwarding TV and fell in love with Target all over again. I also left my camera connection cable thingydingy at my parents' place and I'm too lazy to write much so I've decided to share a couple photos that I never got around to posting.

Easter is coming

Though you'd never know it with the snow all over the place. I hate April. I'm trying to hang on, knowing that May is coming and encourage spring to show up with spring-y projects.

A punk bunny for the store. I'll probably whip up a white one too for Tadpole's Easter basket since they're seriously fast to knit up.

and spring-colored sample socks for the 2 toe up socks on 1 circ at 1 time classs

If you can do one, you can do two and if you can do two, you can do four.

First days of school

I finally took a knitting class. Yeah. I know. I teach classes but I had never taken one. Kind of weird, right? It was a buttonhole class with Lucy Neatby and it was awesome. She was as bright and cheery as her hair and knits. I highly recommend taking a class with her if you ever get the chance. I just wish I could have taken the double knitting class too. You can go over to Lee Ann's for photos (including one of me with Lucy!!!) since I didn't bring my camera, but Lee Ann did. She also has more chat about the class than I do since I'm not feeling particularly chatty right now (hence the lack of posting last week) and Lee Ann is as loquacious as ever.

Another first: I'm going travel to give a class for the first time... or give a class while I'm traveling, really. On April 14th I'll be teaching a two toe up socks on one circular needle class (come up with a fancy/cute/concise/nice name for me and I'll give you a treat) and a design your own perfect fit top-down raglan (name also needed) at New York Knits. I'd be honored to see any of you lovely Rochesterians who'd like to come. I don't have cute buttons like Lucy does, but I promise we'll have fun anyway. And I promise that I've put loads of thought into the classes even if I haven't thought up a pithy name yet.
