Random

1. I was walking to a friend's house yesterday and saw this:

They were on a windowsill. I didn't take them. I just took a photo. They weren't there today. I love finding things like this. I wonder why they were there and I wonder who took them.

2. I'm finishing a project. I am coming super close to running out of yarn. I'm probably going to have to take apart a swatch in order to seam. I've never had this happen before for a "work" project.

3. I've been dying to bake lately. The other day I gave in and made one minus a layer and the lemon curd. It was super yummy.

4. I'm tired. Rilly rilly tired.

5. New favorite words used in the house: joo = shoes, poopoo = you should recognize that one, baban = banana, unn doo eeeeeeeeeeeeee! = 1 2 3

6. Most used words: bye bye, baloon, baby, no no! Bye bye is the BIG winner, followed closely by no no!

7. I have some projects I'm really excited to work on but I just can't seem to find the time. If anybody has any advice on how I can get by on even less sleep, I'm all ears.

8. I should be blocking right now but that would involve standing up and moving and measuring and pinning, none of which I feel like doing right now. I'm trying to convince myself it's better to do it tonight, but my body just wants to fall asleep on the couch in front of Stephen Colbert.

9. This is the first time I've done Random Wednesday.

10. Thank you to all of you plant knowledgeable people.

11. I'm keep rereading this list and thinking it's boring and that I can't remember 2 things that I had meant to say and ended up saying 9 that I didn't mean to. I'm too tired to think about it (did I mention the tired?) so I'm just going to say, "screw it" and hit "publish."

There's an old wives tale or some sort of thing that if you place money on your windowsill (on New Year's Eve is the way I have heard it), that you will have a prosperous New Year...

Too bad someone took it down..

Beautiful picture!

I loe that picture of the pennies! I love stumbling across things like that.

I'm tired, too. And mine is 13.

I, too, have fantasies of falling asleep in front of Stephen Colbert! We must have a niche fetish.

I love the words! Too funny. Every family has it's own language, I think.

I've been thinking, us bloggers should have the use of computers that react to speach so we can knit and at the same time blog. They excist, but I think you'd have to be either rich or disabled to get to one. Let's all get rich!!

That photo is truly lovely - the shades of the different coins are beautiful!

ohmygosh, i can't believe i just suggested to Kate Gilbert that she get some sleep. sorry, i just stumbled on this and loved the pennies photo and didn't pay much attention to whose blog this is.

i love your pennies photo.

and your randon list is not the least boring.

there is no substitute for sleep. at the risk of sounding like your mother, i suggest you get some. :)

Motherhood is wonderful and exhilarating, but as you know so well, it's also very, very tiring. Cake is good. First words are precious. The counting is killing me! Noah's first sitter was from Trinidad, so it took ages for him to pronounce "three" any way but "tree." I found it quite charming. He also used to ask for "water" and "roti" in a West Indian accent. Pretty funny stuff.

"screw it" and hit "publish" is pretty much how i finish every post.

sorry you're so tired :(

Sorry you're so tired. I've gone through phases like that too, and I'm not even chasing a little one around! It'll pass. My only advice for less sleep is more coffee, or coffee-based beverages. I'm a VENTI fan of the Cafe Vanilla Frappucino of happiness at Starbucks.

Great picture.

Ahhh first words are so great. Now my 2 year old won't shut up and mocks everything that you say. It is still fun. I love to say hard words and listen to him try and say them. He does pretty well.

Screw house work and everything else. While the baby sleeps get some sleep yourself.

Love the first words. Anna learned banana and balloon really early too.

She still mispronounces balloon. It started out as boodja, and now it's boodjon.

I love this picture!

Did you call me yesterday?

Posted by: scout at June 21, 2007 09:12 AM

Not boring at all... a little snippit into the life of Kate. It's cool. maybe I'll borrow this idea from you sometime.

Bises to your and your fam...

One of my granddaughters was brought up, in Beijing, with Chinese as her first language. However, the expression of the negative is apparently rather complicated in that language. When she was the Tadpole's age, she often found it necessary to fling herself on the floor and shout "no no no".

mmmmm, I really wanted to make that too, but I'm too lazy to convert the measurements!!

You were so tempted by the lemon cake too?

I love the first words. So sweet. (Like lemon cake.)
