I think I have a future knitter on my hands
I hate to do one of those look at my daughter, isn't she the cutest posts, but really, isn't she the cutest? (don't answer that if you don't agree)
I put her on my bed to put her shoes on and there she found a ball of yarn and got super excited. She was yelling "ballon! ballon!" which is the word she uses for balls, balloons and yarn balls alike. She yelled it louder and louder and then started sniffing the yarn and giving it kisses. I know you smell your yarn and maybe even smooched some that you really liked. Don't deny it.

Don't you just love it when they show you that they love what you do!!??!!
I just dyed yarn with my 3 year old. It was great!!

She knows how to appreciate the good things in life!
That's really adorable. The sort of thing you put in a baby book and bring it out when she starts dating.

Is there a video? There should be!
Sniffing the yarn.... Yep, she's hooked.

I think it is just silly when a blogger doesn't feel justified in showing off her prized possessions. Like dogs, cats, children, yarn, plants, gardens, houses, etc.
And mommies of all people should be showing off the greatest work of their lives - their kids!
Be that person who says "Look at my kid isn't she cute?" If we don't like it we can all, well, you know.

Isn't is just precious how they love what you love?? My two little ones adore yarn and squeeze and smell it and smash their little faces into it. Emeline says stuff like "oh, I love this yarn" and also asks what I'm knitting. hehe I can just imagine little Tadpole sitting on the bed doing this. Thanks for telling us about it. :)

I don't see her?? Did you take the pic down?

Next time get video... it has to be the cutest! :)

I can hardly stand it. I want to squeeze the stuffing out of her (but then I'd probably make her cry -- again. that experience clearly left its mark on me). She is just darling.

So cute!

Smooching!! I try to do it only in the privacy of my own home. ; )

Once I was reasonably sure my daughter had enough coordination not to poke our her own eye, I gave her a jumbo-sized crochet hook (I don't know what size it is, but it has about the same diameter as my thumb). She keeps it in a mini totebag--with some gauge swatches and yarn scraps--and pulls it out to do some "knitting" with me when I get out my own knitting. We started this when she was about one and a half, and several months later it's still greatly entertaining for her!

My friends make fun of me for "huffing yarn," but I think it's the sign of a great knitter. Clearly, Tadpole feels the same. (god, did I just use a toddler to justify my own odd behavior? eek!)

Too cute!
I bet she'll be a fabulous knitter!

That too cute!
My daughter regularly picks up yarn, holds it to her cheek to feel how soft it is and then gives it a big hug. She also told me last week "Mommy, you're the BEST knitter". I think she wants me to make her something :-)
I love it how their minds work - she also calls the yarn store "mommy's toy store". Ah - the wisdom of youth.

Awwww!

that is awfully cute.

Aww... I love how children of knitters think it's normal to love yarn. We've moved into a construction equipment phase here, so John tells me to "build a sock."

Aw! She is super cute. My smallest sprog had me laughing at myself the day she found a small, cast off ball of handspun in some dark corner of the living room- and brough it out crowing triumphantly, smiling and holding it up like the greatest trophy ever. My face turned red though when she grabbed her toy telephone and started babbling excitedly into it, obviously ABOUT THE YARN. I don't know where she saw anyone doing that!! ;-)

Good to start them out young!

My 18mo has been hugging yarn for months. Freaks the rest of the family out but I just sigh contentedly.

Andy (one day younger than Tadpole) says "YAHN!" like he's from Boston and begs to see Fuh-nah (Fiona), the Boston Terrier who lives at one of the yarn shops downtown. He'll take one of my crochet hooks (not the knitting needles - they're bamboo & I don't want him to break them) and stick it in & out of a ball of yarn that I give him so he'll stop pulling on my WIPs. One day he picked up some needles I was selling at our yard sale, picked them up and said "knee-tee," then waved them near each other and said "Mama!" Kids are great, aren't they?

Well, considering I put my DOGS up on my site, nearly every post, I don't know that I'm the sanest person to ask about all this, but yes, I think your daughter is the cutest.

She sounds like a natural!

Smooching the yarn ball! She's the best.

You need to get her one of those I Sniff Yarn tees. SOOO cute.

LOL that is too cute!!!!! Ahh dang I was hoping for a picture too. ;)
Posted by: Tonia at July 31, 2007 09:47 PM
Aw, sweet. So far the closest my boy has gotten was to rip out half a row on a bound-off sock, and dismantle a few balls of yarn I left laying around.

She is the cutest little girl in the entire hemisphere, it's true. (I typed "all the world," and then remembered Pia. I suspect it's a tie.)

Never too young to start them on the knitting path, I think. And yes, that's a very cute story :)
