Procrastinatory/celebratory spinning

At the fiber revival I bought some Falklands Wool in Escape from Heather. This is a small piece of roving that I forgot to spin. It's got the same green as my kitchen walls. By the way, I did not choose the color of the walls. Although I don't hate it, I never would have chosen it.

The roving became singles while I was procrastinating.

The singles became yarn while I was celebrating the work I had finished

My dad made me a wraps per inch measuring thingamabob/orafice hook while I was home

And I bought myself a purpleheart spindle. Spindle made here and bought here.

The yarn is gorgeous, and I bet Dad could find a market for those... Maybe he should go into business with my dad, who makes good blocking boards!

Gorgeous colors in the yarn. So pretty. Stupid question: Did you spin that on a spindle? I am hoping "Yes" because I'll be taking a spindle-spinning course in Ocotober and I'd love to think that someday I might make something so lovely.

C'est mervielleux! Both the skein and the spindle! I've never seen one with multiple notches on the whorl before. Very cool! I guess your Schacht has been whipped into shape :-)

What a great way to procrastinate. The fiber is lovely. What a great little hook/wpi and even better that your dad made it. Ooo that spindle is so pretty. How does it spin?

Kate, the spinning looks phenomenal! You go!! I wasn't at Revivial -- my daughter has a flu bug that weekend and I missed the fun!

Kate that yarn looks gorgeous! Seriously, I can tell from here that it's balanced! So is the wheel tension being good now?

That's so beautiful. I normally don't comment with flattery but honestly that is the loveliest yarn I've ever seen and Oh, if only it were mine. It would make all right with my world, I'm sure of it.
