SPLAT!

I'm very uncomfortable. I feel stuffed full of ideas and projects and things to work on. And I have very little time to work on them. And even if I had the time, I wouldn't know where to start. I'd be afraid that starting one thing would make me forget all the rest. I feel so filled to the brim that I think I could start shaking and then literally explode. And when I did, the walls would be splattered with knitting that I want to do, yarns I'd like to design and spin and knit, bits of wool and swatches of stitch patterns.

This midnight rambling has been interrupted by a little girl who's not sleeping well lately and has been published by a lack of better judgment... perhaps from a lack of decent sleep. Have a good weekend.

I feel similarly contained. Except I think the not starting projects is because none of the projects is something I want to work on singly (they take so long), but all of the projects are things I want to work on grouply. And working on one project would take me away from the group of projects/ideas. Limited time means picking and choosing, and, sometimes, waiting for the right project to jump on. Meantime, basic knitting continues...

Thank God for the times when we have a swarm of ideas flying around in our heads and can't seem to really get hold of any of them. And, Please God, don't ever let me have a day with no new ideas...truly hell on earth.

As a mother of three, I remember those exhausting days. I always found my knitting to be calming and peaceful. We just took our youngest son to college and my house is way too quiet now. I know you have heard it a million times, but they DO grow up quickly! Happy knitting.

I've been there. I'm still there. Makes life much more interesting. Do you really want to be an airhead?

Oh, and when you figure out how to cram significantly more into a day, would you tell me, too? Thanks!

i'm glad your judgement didn't keep you from publishing this. the image of walls splattered with knitting you want to do made me laugh.

i guess it's what we get when taking up a labor intensive activity. projects take weeks and months ideas take not so long.

Kate,

Sorry to use the blog as a means to get a message to you - the email I sent has just been returned. I'll be in this afternoon if you want to email.

Yes, we have the occasional patch of white in our house...

Actually you are a very lucky person: a very creative lady (not everybody is so gifted) and your baby is gorgeous. Look at the bright side :)

I say put all your ideas down on seperate pieces of paper then draw one at a time and that will be toe project that you work on.

I so feel you about the sleep deprived baby not sleeping. My son has been doing the same thing. Must be the moon. ;)

Tape recorder. Describe what will make you remember the idea/concept, maybe add sketches, colors, where the inspiration came from.

Could be Tadpole's sleep interuptions are from teething. My son had that problem and night terrors, too. Don't worry, she'l grow out of this phase adn begion sleeping better and longer. Hang in there!

Write them down and go crazy on them! Your ideas are awesome.

Been there. It gets better and then doesn't at times. But, know that you have friends out here that understand.

Yes! Yes! And 3 deadlines this weekend for submissions, and 2 sweaters due next week, and another deadline a week after that and *splode* :)

Hope the little one starts sleeping better, the schedule you keep amazes me, it really does.

Have you read the Harry Potter books? Dumbledore, the headmaster at Harry's school, has something called a Pensieve. When Dumbledore's head is crammed too full, he simply channels the excess thoughts into the Pensieve. I wish such a thing existed. Sounds like you could use one, and I know I certainly could.

I know it's exhausting, but as so many have said, Tadpole's sleep WILL improve over time. My guys still go through phases when their sleep suffers, but they don't last too long.

Life with a toddler is hard esp one who's sleeping habits have gone down the drain. Hang in there! It does get better.

Hee hee hee! Don't you wish you hand a few extra pairs of handds that could do it for you some days?

Posted by: Sarah Carey at September 14, 2007 08:46 AM

I know exactly how you feel...mine's more of a wanting to work on all the projects I currently have yarn for while buying more yarn for others and less of a need to design (though there are a few ideas running around I'd like to start) but it's still a filled to the brim wishing I had ten pairs of hands to do what I want to be doing.

Do you need advice??
Draw and write your ideas on a big paper and than start with one.
All the other ideas will stay in line waiting to be next in the row for making.
