2008 already?

I made these for my mom for Christmas:

and these as a baby/Christmas gift

The sweater and hat yarn is my handspun. The sweater is calculated from my top-down raglan calculator worksheet that I use when I give workshops. The hat can be seen better here and the pattern is here (for those of you who don't know). I actually had a ton of yarn left though I had made the sweater smaller than I wanted in fear of running out. I could have even made socks but I stopped myself. The gift was late as it was. The color is truer in the next photo. The bunny was whipped out in just an hour. I had forgotten how quick it was. The yarn is Phildar Neige and the pattern is here (although I suppose most of you know that).

And here is the lovely little recipient who is a girl so I should have just knitted the darned sweater instead of stopping regularly to fret over the color and wearability in case of it being a boy.

Poor little lady. I promise I'll make your hat long enough to cover your ears next time. I should have remembered that you half of you comes from a family of melon-heads.

I'd like to wish you all a happy, healthy, prosperous and knit-filled 2008. I'm a bit behind in my yearly tradition of looking what I accomplished and thinking about what I hope for for the coming year. I'll try to get on that before February or at least before the spring thaw. Love to you all, Kate

Sorry to drag this into 2008, but how/where can I find those amazing stitch markers you were talking about? I'm so fed up with the ones I have been usng I could just spit. Many thanks.

Am I still allowed to say Happy New Year? I will anyway. I'm loving those mittens. And your handspun is gorgeous. I'm happily awed.

Happy belated New Year!

I just came home from a trip to Spain where I for the first time had the guts to have my knitting in my hand luggage (your beautiful Birds in Hand). I knitted away on the plane and was so excited to get the mittens ready. However a few hours after landing, my whole bag was stolen, with knitting and everything... I won't mind starting the knitting all over again, the pattern is wonderful, but I'm never taking my knitting on a plane again!

Happy New year, Kate! I can't wait to see what you'll come up with this year (no pressure). I don't know about you, but I have a good feeling about this year! Nevermind that I say that every year... ;)

The sweater, hat and its recipient are all quite adorable! Your yarn is lovely - the colorway is wonderful!

The mittens are very pretty also - nice blend of colors.

Happy New Year!

What a cute baby (and sweater and hat)!

Happy New Year to you, too!

Kate the color is just right for her complexion and the sweater couldn't have fit more perfectly! It's so hard to judge how long to make a hat - nice to see that you're as normal as the rest of us when it comes to things like that. :)

Any chance I could pick your brain about the top-down worksheet? I'm wanting to teach a class like this but have been trying to decide how to come up with something like this that would work for anyone/any size/any gauge, blah blah blah.

Have a Happy Wonderful Healthy New Year - Love the Christmas pictures of Tadpole! XOXOX

Handspun is so great for baby things. That sweater is too cute. Happy 2008! I'm not even going to bother looking back over 2007 and taking stock. i think it would just depress me.
