Accidentally all green

I knit faster than I blog. Here's the (unblocked) front of a top.

and here's the sleeve. Yup. It's a sleeve. You'll see in just a couple days because I'm almost halfway done with the back.

Classic Elite has already published this pattern in the Mostly Modern book. They've called it the Cotton Bam Boo Fluttery Sleeve Top (ravelry link). I'll be publishing it myself soon (a week or two?) and I'm thinking about giving it a somewhat more concise name. Any ideas?

Here's a little look at a sweater that you'll see eventually. In the summer maybe? In the fall? I'll have to check.

LAMCK! (look at my cute kid)

She touches the needles, then moves the yarn, then touches the needles, then moves the yarn. When I gave her her own needles and yarn later in the day, she said, "[Tadpole] make a sweater for Grandma Grandpa."

She's adorable. I saw the top on Classic Elite's site - very nice. It's great that the company is progressive enough in their contract to allow you to do individual sales in addition to publishing it themselves. Hopefully the wave of the future?

Those photos are absolutely adorable of her, so cute!

Plus, that sweater = I fell in love with it immediately and can't wait to see yours finished! Beautiful!

The sweater. Just stunning. Who would not look great in this?

And little Tadpole is just precious. The knitting. Yes. Lila tries to knit but I haven't analyzed her motions yet. She's also obsessed with the spinning wheel!

I have been checking obsessively to see if the new pattern is up for sale yet. It's GORGEOUS and I have to make one for myself!!!! That sleeve design is incredible.

Posted by: Shanna at February 3, 2008 04:06 PM

I love the sleeve design. Gorgeous!!! For the name what about Whimsy?

Posted by: Dawn at February 3, 2008 01:13 PM

Copying what momma does. That's priceless.

Posted by: Emily at February 3, 2008 04:06 AM

Plus, the color made me think of a luna moth; check this out: http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=luna+moth&btnG=Search+Images&gbv=2

Posted by: Angela at February 3, 2008 02:55 AM

I agree with others that the sleeve looks like a butterfly...or moth...how about "Luna"?

Posted by: Angela at February 3, 2008 02:50 AM

Someone beat me to Greensleeves and Flutterby.
I'm so unoriginal. It was great to see you for a second at Effiloche today when I came in with Dana and my guys.
Ok..I have re-studied the sleeve. If you look at the lacy parts they kind of resemble the shape of a crocus juuuussst before it is fully open (pining for Spring much??). Since it is so pretty and Spring like and Easter is in Spring, but I'm a Pagan so I call it Ostara, I suggest "Ostara".
Tah-daaaaahhhh

Posted by: Alison P at February 2, 2008 11:12 PM

The top is lovely, the sleeve reminds me of the butterflies I saw recently. My vote is for Butterfly. Or Butterfly Sleeve. Tadpole is georgeous. She's been watching you and trying to coyp hte knitting. How precious. And so very observant of her. She'll grow into a very observant young lady. Enjoy.

Posted by: Erica at February 2, 2008 02:35 PM

oooh this is beautiful!

Posted by: paperdiva at February 2, 2008 01:52 PM

That sleeve is so pretty!

And your little one is very, very cute too!

Posted by: Tajhia at February 1, 2008 03:10 PM

What pretty and delicate little sleeves!

Posted by: SegoLily at February 1, 2008 12:33 PM

I nominated you for the You Make My Day Award!

Posted by: Amy at February 1, 2008 10:58 AM

Absinthe? Green Faerie? Something like that....

Posted by: juno at February 1, 2008 12:33 AM

Just to be different, I'll say the Flutterby Top.
It's gorgeous, so is that baby!

Posted by: Carol at January 31, 2008 11:50 AM

I like Tinkerbell (although one would expect a 'baby' pattern, and also Flutterby, but it also reminds me of a Lettuce Leaf.

Maybe Bamboo? Bamboo Leaves? to tie it with the name already used in a publication.

Whatever - it is utterly divine Kate. What talent, what baby-making abilities too, AND she (Tadpole) knits - any day now!

Posted by: Laura Jane at January 31, 2008 09:33 AM

It reminds me of something out of the Great Gatsby era. No specific name ideas though.

Butterfly Top

Posted by: lindsay at January 30, 2008 08:22 PM

That sleeve makes my heart aflutter! I'm glad I won't have to track down the CE booklet, and can get the pattern instead from you directly!
Incidentally, Squeeks has the same top! I think.

Posted by: valentina at January 30, 2008 06:07 PM

I love how your brain works, I love that sleeve! I also love green, and that kid of yours is so adorable.

Posted by: Julia at January 30, 2008 04:41 PM

that picture is just delightful! all children want so much to do what "big" people do.
and as for ideas for a new name for the sweater... hmmmmmmm, how about:
-butterfly wing top?
-papillon a l'epaule?
-butterfly kiss?
-flutter fling?
-wing 'n a prayer?
-winged dream(s)?
-aile MNOP? :)

Posted by: christine m. east of toronto at January 30, 2008 02:18 PM

If it were in red, my thought would be along the lines of 'wearing your heart on your sleeve'. "Tenderhearted" comes to mind but I may be influenced by the beautiful baby girl...
Katrina

Posted by: Katrina at January 30, 2008 12:50 PM

Wow, that green sleeve makes my heart all fluttery - it's gorgeous. But not as gorgeous as Tadpole!

Posted by: Elizabeth at January 30, 2008 10:02 AM

She IS very, very cute.

Posted by: Mary K. in Rockport at January 30, 2008 09:42 AM

I thought flutterby when I first saw it too. It's beautiful! And I'm very intrigued by the sneak peak.

Posted by: Jennifer at January 30, 2008 09:41 AM

I love an all-green post! The fluttery sleeve top is wonderful -- yet I've no suggestions for an alternate name. I can't wait to see more of the second sweater.

Tadpole is so cute! How sweet of her to want to knit for her Grandma Grandpa.

Posted by: Janet at January 30, 2008 07:59 AM

Lacy Lady Tee, perfect for Wimbledon and such...

Posted by: Helen at January 30, 2008 01:10 AM

that sweater is GORGEOUS! love it!

tadpole is too adorable for words. my (19 mo old) daughter isn't quite that into my knitting, yet... (famous last words!)

Posted by: cori w at January 29, 2008 10:19 PM

Wow, what a gorgeous sleeve! Makes me want to go start pumping iron now!

Posted by: Anne at January 29, 2008 10:08 PM

Love this & can't wait to see pattern. It reminds me of Tinker Bell.

Posted by: flaky at January 29, 2008 06:56 PM

I love the new top design and the sleeve detail! So Springy and Leafy! Tadpole gets cuter and cuter! I like the name Laurie suggested.

Posted by: Manise at January 29, 2008 06:06 PM

How about just "Flutter"? Or "Lady Greensleeves"...

Butterfly Lace T.

Posted by: Laurie at January 29, 2008 05:20 PM

I saw that sweater previously, and I love it. It's so beautiful.

Posted by: Mandy at January 29, 2008 04:49 PM

I love the greens, and can't wait to see the sweaters!

Tadpole looks so cute, getting ready to knit. Good for her.

Posted by: Bridget at January 29, 2008 02:42 PM

That sweater is gorgeous. (As always..)
The sleeve makes me think of a nenuphar.. ;-)

Posted by: SylvChezPlum at January 29, 2008 02:31 PM

i'm with the rest of them. that sleeve looks like a butterfly. so pretty. you wicked smaht!

and tadpole is the cutest.

Posted by: maryse at January 29, 2008 02:14 PM

Love the green yarn for both projects, maybe just Green Butterfly as a name?
Tadpole is SOOOOOOOOO sweet!!

Posted by: Katie at January 29, 2008 01:45 PM

love the greens and reallly love the new sweater. The lace shape and color remind me of the delicate little leaves that come out first in spring --- maybe even given the timing, it's appropriate? Spring Leaf Lace Tee? or maybe I'm just trying to think warm - I'm in Boston today with no heat as the guys replace my furnace.....

Posted by: thea at January 29, 2008 01:23 PM

I love all the green! The shape of the lace and the color of the new design are gorgeous. makes me think Spring Leaves - you know that color before the real leaves appear? Maybe the Spring Leaf Lace Tee? coincides with the timing at least!

Maybe I'm just trying to think ahead to warm days, since I'm in Boston today with no heat - the guys are replacing my furnace today!

Posted by: thea at January 29, 2008 01:17 PM

That sleeve is so wonderful!

Posted by: Sam at January 29, 2008 01:16 PM

Gasp! That sleeve looks exactly like a butterfly. Not a unique observation, but I'm still taken aback by it! Just beautiful.

Posted by: Carrie at January 29, 2008 12:45 PM

Lotus! The back of the sweater looks like a lotus flower and leaves.

Tadpole is oh so very cute. I can't even stand it. :-)

Posted by: Holly at January 29, 2008 12:38 PM

Oh the cuteness. My favourite bit is her shaggy honey-coloured hair.

Posted by: Shannon B at January 29, 2008 12:23 PM

I like Flutterby or Flutter...or b/c the lace reminds me of ferns, Fern or Fiddlehead or maybe even Lady Fern?

No matter the name, it is gawjess!

Posted by: Beverly at January 29, 2008 12:12 PM

I see butterflies in that sleeve. Maybe Flutterby?

Posted by: Netter at January 29, 2008 11:39 AM

this is great! My daughter (21 mos) also knits by sticking needles in my yarn balls and carefully placing stitch markers on top of the ball. So cute :)

Posted by: kaitlyn at January 29, 2008 11:23 AM

Love the sweaters, can't wait to see the finished projects!

Tadpole is adorable :)

Posted by: Amie at January 29, 2008 11:13 AM

So much wonderful greeness and cuteness!

Posted by: Gudrun at January 29, 2008 10:54 AM

ok, I'm hooked -- so want to knit that! This is the first "spring thing" I've had the urge to cast-on! Gorgeous. As for names, words that come to mind are ethereal, feminine, faerie -- what about Neverland? It is way too sophisticated for "fluttery"!
btw -- I'm loving the Tadpole-isms. Too cute!

Posted by: Heather at January 29, 2008 10:42 AM

Delightful sweater, although I can't think of any good names right now. And Tadpole is just too cute with your knitting needles!

Posted by: Danielle at January 29, 2008 10:10 AM

Oh, she's precious. You two will make quite the mother-daughter knitting team someday.

Posted by: Vicki at January 29, 2008 10:02 AM

The sweater's adorable! And so's Tadpole! So cute to copy the knitting!

Posted by: Heather at January 29, 2008 09:48 AM

Your sleeve looks like artichokes to me but I'm betting that's not much of a seller for a name right? ;-)

Can't wait to see Tadpole's knitting creations. lol!

Posted by: ~Jo~ at January 29, 2008 09:46 AM

Hmmm, maybe Petal Sweater? Or is that too cutesy and rhyme-y?

I love your little glimpses into sweaters to come :)

And it's so cute that Tadpole is so interested in knitting. She's going to be a fierce knitter someday!

Posted by: connie at January 29, 2008 09:36 AM

Tadpole is too cute!

I say call it Flutterby.

Posted by: Tonia at January 29, 2008 09:32 AM

It's very lily-of-the-valley-ish!

Posted by: Kim at January 29, 2008 09:31 AM

That first top is beautiful! I love those sleeves--and the color! I can't wait to see it finished.

Posted by: Meghan at January 29, 2008 09:13 AM

The sweater is beautiful! it looks so soft and luxurious. I agree with the comment above that the sleeve looks like a butterfly.

Posted by: danielle at January 29, 2008 09:12 AM

I love that top. The sleeve cap looks just like a butterfly. ~x~

Posted by: Jane in London at January 29, 2008 09:10 AM

I saw this pattern on the back of the newest knitscene. I loved it immediately.
Sorry I can't help with a name. I am no good at it.

Posted by: britt at January 29, 2008 09:10 AM

Oh my gosh, I want to eat her in these pics!! You take the best pictures of her. She is going to have such nice memories when she gets older.
