OK, this had me in utter stitches. I've gotten used to taking my knitting from a partially blocked state and tossing it in the dryer for 15-30 minutes and then pinning it back out. It's hard for a well-soaked knit to block in the winter.

Hey what a good idea. I just finished a baby sweater yesterday and had it on a napkin on the furnace vent. This would work better and I could eat too.

Ooh, perfect idea. That green design is GORGEOUS!
Posted by: Ansley at March 6, 2008 11:06 PM
I can't wait to see that pattern because those sleeves are the cutest things.
Posted by: Martha at February 28, 2008 11:10 AM
ha! That's great.
Unfortunately I need the larger model. My sweater won't fit on top of yours.
Posted by: paperdiva at February 22, 2008 01:07 PM
What a good idea - I have a slightly different model - but it should work the same...

I knew I should have kept my toaster oven...how are you?

Multipurpose and space saving! I'm in!

That is simply hilarious. You are quite witty :D Very nice piece of knitting as well. I am commenting from the US by the by. Am enjoying your blog.

Very cute, Kate!

i'm dyeing of laughter reading this and dh walks by, looks over my shoulder, and says something about the dangers of drinking and knitting. don't you just hate it when people don't get knitter humor?
Posted by: joyce at February 16, 2008 04:56 PM
Very, very funny. I love your sense of humour. And your inventiveness. Brilliant.
Posted by: di at February 16, 2008 06:51 AM
That's the most beautiful sleeve ever!
Posted by: Diana at February 15, 2008 03:16 PM
OMG. This just made me snort.
Posted by: scout at February 14, 2008 11:30 PM
I was thinking of buying a toaster oven. But now that I know that they work great for drying knitwear, it will get bumped up to the top of things to do list.

You certainly like to play with *fire*! Great advertisement!
Posted by: Manise at February 14, 2008 11:59 AM
That's a scary looking contraption -- I hope you don't end up having to change your blog name to "knits on fire."
Posted by: Danielle at February 14, 2008 11:31 AM
Do you have a bulk buy option so that I can block larger objects and make toast for a crowd (or perhaps cornish game hens?)?
I can trade you one slightly used propane furnace!
Mmmm I can almost taste all the woowy wecipes! hehe

Hysterical!! You did a great job photoshopping the block icon to the front panel.
Posted by: melissa at February 14, 2008 10:26 AM
This post is hilarious - made my morning!

*sigh* I expect toaster ovens to appear in France around the same time as my personal grail, the crock pot. Oh toaster ovens, how I miss you!

Needles on FIRE aren't the only things?
Posted by: helen at February 14, 2008 01:40 AM
I laughed myself silly over here! Too bad our Blokomatik 3000 is too small to dry the sweaters that take 4 to 7 days to dry in winter in our apartment.
Posted by: Kirsten at February 13, 2008 11:16 PM
HAHAHA! that last photo kills me.
Posted by: anne at February 13, 2008 10:05 PM
Always multitasking, hmmmmm? That's pretty friggin' clever.
Posted by: regina at February 13, 2008 06:20 PM
I find myself wondering if this was an accidental or intential discovery. Either way, good idea!
Funny, too!
Posted by: Alisha at February 13, 2008 05:14 PM
That's a great idea! I put my damp knits on my little space heater here at work, but I think that might be asking for trouble.
Posted by: Cheryl at February 13, 2008 04:44 PM
This and the Willy Waller from the Têtes à claques and we are on business - ah ! ah !
Posted by: SamLaTricoteuse at February 13, 2008 04:39 PM
Fantastic. (Or fan-toast-tic, if you'd rather the pun.)
Posted by: Michelle at February 13, 2008 04:33 PM
Toast...drool. Is that Cinnamon Raisin toast? Yum.
Posted by: Sarah at February 13, 2008 04:25 PM
Hee hee. I already have one, thanks. I tend to put my stuff on the hot water radiators in my house. It's amazing how many people ask me, "Won't that catch fire on there?"
Posted by: Steph VW at February 13, 2008 03:59 PM
how yummy and practical! i assume that the blokomatik works with gluten-free toast? ;)
I warmed the bedroom and dried my socks the other day. Twas wonderful.

How resourceful!
Posted by: Carole at February 13, 2008 02:22 PM
hehehe good thinking! yummy raison toast. It probably makes your knitting smell like burnt toast too - which would be an extra bonus!
Posted by: emma at February 13, 2008 02:00 PM
What a great invention! (And yes, I love both Wallace & Grommit and toast.)Your sleeve looks like a butterfly, I'm looking forwaed to seeing the finished garment.
Posted by: mimouna at February 13, 2008 01:41 PM
Mm, food and dry knitting. How can you lose? I think I'm lucky it's never that cold where I am, although a blocking function would be handy some place, no doubt.
Posted by: Amy at February 13, 2008 12:36 PM
I've blocked things that need to be dried ASAP on my radiator, but I like your way - more yummy! :)
Posted by: connie at February 13, 2008 12:35 PM
Mmmm....toasty!
