I've got big balls

Get your mind out of the gutter.
and please pretend you don't see my hair sticking up, the toothpaste that is still on the mirror and that I'm wearing my sweater inside out.
This is the hugest ball of yarn I've ever seen. It's Lorna's Laces Fisherman. It comes in 500 yard hanks. I thank the yarn goddess for my ball winder and Dad for my swift because I've got a bunch of these to ball and knit. Sorry. Can't tell you what I'm making. You'll see eventually.
I have turned a few people into knitters recently. Blossom is casting on and knitting like a pro. My old roommate emailed me showing a hat she had made. I don't know that I had anything to do with it, but I did knit a lot when I lived with her and she said, "Now I know why you love it so much. I am addicted." so I'm going to take some credit for it anyway. And an old friend emailed me yesterday saying that she was going right after work to buy some yarn and needles. I'm not sure I had anything much to do with that either since I talked to her on Monday for the first time in about 10 years but I did tell her a good LYS to go to. I'll just consider myself the needle that broke the non-knitter's back.

Mountains of FOs
Are you ready to see my tons of FOs? Me too. They're non-existant. I had meant to start a sweater but it didn't work out and now I need to reexamine my yarn selection. I had meant to start a new hat design but that didn't happen either. I had meant to make some Lise booties... nope. Here is what I did do:

Santa came this weekend
<And now because of the twisted sisters book I'm having fantasies of using dyes, owning a spinning wheel and making socks for everone I know.

I thought the whole point of her winning my contest was that I would send her something... (her prize is sitting on my couch) but hey, I'm not going to complain! Especially since I had never seen Lamb's Pride yarn before (gasp!) and it's in such a lovely color... now what to make...

Do you know what this is? It's the light at the end of the tunnel. I finished a big project. Almost.
This weekend, I also patted a horse's nose, played with a dirty dog, saw a bee rubbing the inside of a crocus, walked in the mud, baked a cheesecake and babbled to Frog about plans for sweaters.

Good things come in pairs
I got tagged by two people for the music thing and yesterday I got packages from two people!

On the left are all of my sweets from Louby Lou's contest and on the right is a lovely gift from Alison. And look what's in the package.

Silk for spinning! I am so not worthy of this lovely a fiber. I'm going to have to practise a lot and consult with the spinning gurus I know before using it so I don't just ruin it. And there was also some yummy smelling tea and a cute magnet which is already hanging on my magnetic chalk board.
Thanks ladies!

Our blogs, our selves
My blog was sick. Now I am. You may have noticed that for the last week nearly two weeks there was no posting, no commenting, sporatic email. That had to happen when there was a ridiculous photo of me posted, didn't it! I'm catching up on the email I owe, so please be patient if you haven't heard from me. Things are more or less back in working order now
Here's the last two weeks in a nutshell:
Tuesday - Sarah gave me Sweethearts (which I ate right away so you'll have to go to her site if you really want to see a photo of them).
Wednesday - I won a contest! I never win contests! Looby Lou asked people to identify a poem and I did! I asked for haggis, but she suggested old-fashioned Scottish sweets instead.
I met Kim (who you may have seen in the comments) and Trish (who I found out reads, but doesn't comment as far as I can remember) and their husbands (and mine) for a really great dinner with good wine which I drank enough of to babble incessantly. Kim brought me all this:

the world's biggest box of Cheerios so I can eat breakfast, gigantic plastic bags to continue my new yarn organization obsession, muffin papers so I can teach the French that muffins don't have to be chocolate and they are not the same thing as cupcakes, and candy corn because they aren't all melted together.

Don't you love the beautiful, clean packages of yarn? I think I should do this with all of my yarn, or would that just be scary? And sorry for the crap photo. It was dark out.
Thursday - I had a lovely tea and delicious scones with Auntie M, who was delightful company.
Friday - I got Knitting on the Edge in the mail (you know what it is so I won't bother to link) and read it in the laundromat with Sarah.
Frog and I took the Eurostar to London to hang out with my cousin. I took 2 knitting projects with me but only knit for about 3 minutes of the trip before falling asleep.
Saturday - We discovered a great love of crumplets. I didn't knit but I bought a ball of Rowan wool cotton that I really needed to finish Laura. I heard someone say "Gov-ner" for real - not in a film and not joking.
Sunday - I bought crumpets and cranberry juice to bring back. Still no knitting.
Monday - Ate crumpets. I worked on a couple patterns and felt like I got amazingly little done even though it took me all day
Tuesday - Work, work, work.
Wednesday - Worked my butt off again and got a lot done, including some seams on the Laura sweater. I just need to attach the second sleeve. Went to bed with chills and aches and a fever.
Thursday - Called in sick. I never call in sick. I wanted to take advantage of this unexpected day off to get some stuff done, but in order to do so, I would have had to go to the other side of town to buy a ball of yarn that I needed. Walking across the street to the pharmacy was difficult enough. I had to miss knitting with Kim and Trish. whatabummer.
Friday - I was so sick I couldn't do anything besides sleep and whine.
Saturday - According to my host, my blog should be cured. And I feel a bit better thanks to anti-biotics. I might even be able to knit today and Frog said he'll go get my ball of yarn so I don't have to move.
